as for as the whole where did someone come up with an idea like .hack//sign........some people base there charcters on who they would like to be or who they dont want to be or even a person they admire......and as for the whole thing the story....its would kinda be like a day dream you know............

back to the flash backs to the real world that the main charcter has.... every time tsukasa or shugo had a thought that apeared in there mind that is important to them.......in the real world,....it never fails it always appears....thats all

true,truemia may not b a playing character but she is there and no one can change that fact she has a inpact on characters as well as AI 's too

theres also the flash backs that the main character has of the real world and those who have impacted there real world life. wither good or bad. it basicly makes ther choices for them
