Yay for intelligent discussion! .hack//SIGN reminds me a lot of a movie called Waking Life - anyone seen it? Basically, a guy wanders through a perhaps unreal landscape talking to people about philosophy. What makes it all "click" with me is the insane and beautiful animation, and IMHO .ha...

I actually thought Party was a sad episode too ... it starts off all hopeful and then gets really freaky and depressing when Tsukasa remembers his mother. The end is more bittersweet than anything ... it was one of the stranger episodes. But the most dramatic scene for me is when Subaru is waiting a...

Hmm ... well, personally episodes 11 and 15 are two of my favorites, so I'd probably recommend the third DVD above the others. But that's just me ... JRHACKER's right, just decide which episodes you like the most and buy those DVDs.

Aw, I love you too 'dude. That's a good link in the thread you posted - I didn't try a search because we fling ".hack//LIM" around so often and I figured there would be sixty gamillion hits.

You have failed me, Noah Webster!

I feel so dumb now ... but I just realized that I have no idea what the term "liminality" actually refers to, or if it's even a word. (*Yes* I know what LIM is related to .hack, so don't take it that way). Can anyone define it for me? I will love you forever if you can!

I agree with CRtwenty ... lay off him, guys. It really *does* sound like an interesting idea for a story, and if anything we should be encouraging him to write something and share it with us. Nobody's going to post here any more if we all keep having flame wars over new ideas.

They misspelled Mimiru's name ... they think that she's some "Mimaru" freak. I just love it when people write articles on subjects they obviously have no experience with, don't you?

Yeah, the other day I re-read that and suddenly my mind opend up and I thought, "Wait a minute ..." CC Corp should put a warning sticker on The World to let people know they might go insane.

Music to my ears

Okay, maybe I've finally gone off the deep end with this one. But I realized: in the games, *you* are supposed to be Kite's player, and you can hear the songs in the game. Can one assume all the other characters hear them too? And by the same twisted logic, does this mean that the SIGN chars hear th...

That's true, they'd have to ban all the skins that look even remotely like characters from .hack. Of course, it would be better to just have an entirely new set of skins altogether, and not base the game entirely on what we see of The World ... a *great* deal of creative liberty would be needed, rea...

O ... kay ... anyway! It seems to me that the discussion revolves around the question of whether the guardian (Tsukasa's, at least) is a sentient AI or a slave program. Based on the way it acts - recognizing Tsukasa, disobeying his orders and attacking random players, appearing without anyone summon...

She controlled the dark guardians Morganna gave to Sora. I'm not so sure about Tsukasa's guardian.

Well, that's the thing ... I don't see the guardian as a "spell." It seems to be an NPC like Macha and the rest, not a special attack. The first and last times we see the guardian, Tsukasa doesn't do anything to summon it - it arrives on its own to defend him. I could accept the seal being...

Pain is good in that it contributes to growth, but biologically speaking pain is an indicator of some kind of problem. I believe that's what FireDraconian meant ... maybe we should all specify if we're referring to emotional pain or physical pain.
