Ugh, it was horrible...there wasn't any appeal to it at all, even to someone who doesn't know the .hack storyline! There were quite a few .hack//SIGN character cameos, but nothing of significance.

If I'm correct, they're referring to //GIFT. Eps. 1-26 of .hack//SIGN were the main series 27 was entitled Intermezzo, and it was a side-story of Mimiru's past. 28 was entitled Unison, and it was basically an epilogue to the series after //Quarantine. 29 was entitled GIFT, and it was a parody episode.

If I'm correct, Kaochin was the Subaru-imposter. I think it was just a coincidence, however.
