your personal opinion on the games

Post by Kazzy »

I (might) be getting the first .hack game this weekend, but I don't know much about it and it'd be nice to hear people's opinions :)

I love the games. But, it is true that they are too short. Such a shame it is. Bandai really needs to speed up the release dates on these games. You beat them in a few days and then you wait about two months to get the next volume. -_-*

it is true... they aren't very hard... or time consuming... and once you beat the game, your level is too high to actually fight the monsters and enjoy it...

But when we wake; It's all been erased
And so it seems; Only in dreams

Mmm...that is not entirely true. I know I beat the boss at like Lvl. 33 or 34. I know other people that beat him at a lower level than me. I think they were around 30 or 31.

I do not have the games but I heard they are quite short, but fun to play, but that too conserns me that if you beat the game and continue, if you'll be to high leveled to enjoy it, that'd suck, now wouldn't it?

oh and can you like up load your character level into the second?

Yea, it is short. However, you can't really level up effectively after beating the game, depending on your current level.

To gain a level, you must get 1000EXP. But how many EXP you get from a monster depends on your level and the monster's level. If you were level 1 and beat a level 99 monster, you'd get a massive amount of points. But if you were level 99 and the monster were level 99, you'd get a fair amount. If you were level 99 and the monster were.. level 1, you'd get 1 EXP.

So basically.. roaming around after beating a volume will be full of monsters giving you less than 10EXP (of course, depends on your level and the monster's)

And yes.. if you've beaten a previous volume, you can use the convert command in the front screen and you'll carry everything to the next volume, including characters, stats, items, emails, BBS messages/status, etc.

okay, so far what I'm hearing is that it's short, but obviously that isn't a HUGE problem, seeing as how you all seemed to enjoy the game.

Is it that short that even a person who sucks at video-games such as myself would beat it in, say, a week? (this is a person who took a whole YEAR to beat FFX)

If you spent that much time playing FFX, I'm sure you'd get your money's worth out of .hack. It all depends on your definition of a "short game". 20 or 30 hours is a decent length for a PS2 RPG these days. If every game was as long as Xenosaga, that wouldn't be fair to those with short attention spans. Personally, I think that all 4 volumes of .hack would've fit on 1 disc just fine, and splitting them up is just a huge money-making ploy on Bandai's part, but I'll still buy each one.

.hack is a great game series. I was skeptical at first but now I'm totally immersed in them. It's disgusting. I'm going through INFECTION again and collection 99 of all the spells I can and Grunty Foods and special items [ Pure Water etc etc ] :X

birth of destruction spreads its wings
chaotic rebirth a new domain

I really liked it since I got .hack//infection a little later then I normally would (I normally jump on games like that) and when I beat it, it was only a matter of a month or so to get mutation. Honestly, the two together should've been one game. Mutation, IMO, was shorter then Infection on the list of things to do, although, finding those godforsaken Virus Core F's took me a millenia. They both come with liminaltiy episodes, so, I really think that it's worth it. In the end, I can't wait to see how everything fits into place!

they might not have been able to fit everything in one disc since there are also every feild and dungeon data and then there is the chat commands and all that neat stuff and in vol two you instantly get grunty race infoso maybe they could fit the four volumes into two disc and cram in two dvd with it. awww i dont kow i lost my train of though
