Whats this about a spy kids movie "strangly similer to .hack"? (of course this is coming from my friend kk, who as far as I know, hasn't actually seen anything...)

Ah yes. Spy Kids 3D or whatever it's called. The characters go inside a popular holographic MMORPG to save the world, or something like that. I saw the trailer at the theater a week ago, but I wasn't paying much attention.

I just don't get. Robert Rodriguez (director), Antonia Banderas (actor), and so many other people involved with the Spy Kids movies are well accomplished professionals. Why would they keep making these films?

The first Spy Kids wasn't all that great. I'd probably kill myself while watching the second one... or even the third. -_-;

Are you saying that The Lion King was a rip-off of Kimba the White Lion, and Atlantis was a rip-off of Nadia?

Anyway, as much as we seem to hate Spy Kids movies, they don't seem to be connected to .hack, other than by the VR MMORPG threating civilization theme.

I'm not meaning to perpetuate anything with this, but let me point something out.... Having seen both of them in their entirity, Atlantis is nothing like Nadia. They are, in fact, based off of the same book, "1000 Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Vern.

I've heard a similar thing for Kimba the White Lion and the Lion King, that they're based off of an African legend.

BTW is Disney actually the one that releases Spy Kids? They seem to know a lot about anime, having released the aforementioned "alleged" rip-offs, as well as the works of the great Hiyao Miyizaki.

There are rumors of a .hack movie being in the works. Likely not live action, it's probably animated like //SIGN was. However, it's 'still being scripted', IIRC, so don't look for it anytime soon ~_~

Of course, it -is- a rumor, so please don't take this as fact.
