No, Morgana is not emma. Remember Haralds words in .hack//Mutation.
I must...
Speak with Morgana..
to be where she is. the living flesh poses a hinderance
but i must... i must go... for our aura...
EMMA, PLEASE GIVE ME A LITTLE MORE COURAGE.
Key sentence (the last one). ok now prove me wrong
Well consider what Harold said in volume 4. Morganna could be an AI that carries Emma's perosanlity. Just liek the harold we see in vol.4 who is not Harold himself but an AI that carried his memory.
Actually, in Liminality 4, they explain that Morganna is The World, a system that developed a personality of her own while preparing to give birth to Aura... a system that decided that if Aura was born, its purpose would be moot and would no longer be needed.
Really, the only close tie to Emma would be with Aura, she being 'their daughter'.
I think Emma died before Harold was too much of the way through making Fragments...
The only way Morganna could have her personality is if The World, which was based off of her stories, took that aspect from it.. but that's really far fetched.
Harold's AI has his personality because he was so involved in coding the thing. Emma was out of the picture too early in the process for her memory to be preserved like that.
One thing that really troubles me about Morganna is that her going rebellious against Harold supposedly is something Harold didn't expect. Harold AI did said that Morganna acted out of his expectation in Sign.
But then in the game the Harold AI(which looks nothing like the Harold AI in Sign). He speaks as if knows Morganna well go against him. That really makes me wonder.
Since that Harold AI in the game looks nothing like the Harold AI in Sign. The Harold AI in the game just look like a big tablet.
So if Morganna isn't necessarily Emma, that Harold AI might not be Harold. I mean his attitude and voice is just far off from the Harold AI we see in Sign.
This maybe far fetched but could there be another evil behind the scene?
I wouldn't take too much of the way things look in the games into account. There are already a lot of differences between the games and the anime in terms of visuals.. and that tends to be a studio thing.
I don't think Harold really EXPECTED The World to take on a personality of its own, but I think he may not have been too surprised that it -did- happen. That, and he's probably resigned to it by now.
Harold's purpose in all of this isn't the most righteous.. at least, in how it's handled. Destroying a monopoly and causing the world a lot of grief, even if it might be better in the long run.. his morals seem a little shaky, but he doesn't seem malicious.
That makes sense, but I still has doubts on Harold' AI's true identity.
Harold's notes we get in the game, you see Harold speaks in clear tone and sentences. But when you see that Tablet Harold AI speaks, he speak sin a transexual tone and bunch of gibberish(he speaks as he is inside his little fantasy world) that Black Rose says it is useless to speak with him.
Then add in the fact that we see Harold AI is destroyed in Sign. The idnetity of that tablet Harold is still suspicious.
