Yes but If what I saw in liminality is true the viser/headphones headset thingie also has a small microphone..... so then the actual voice is heard

I think each player chooses a certain voice for their character during character creation, so when they speak what they say is changed into the character's voice... I'd assume this would be helpful for those people w/o headsets, so their typed text can be played as audio...

Perhaps Mistral still uses a keyboard?

ya that's a good possibilty. If they can create their own character, why not choose a voice that fits it.

Well there's a topic with some info from .hack//Encyclopedia and it states that someone can change their Skill voice, so they sound different. I'm not sure if it says that exact thing, but something like it.

I know Brianne Siddal did the voicework for both Elk and Tsukasa (which seems odd - why *emphasize* the similarities?), so unless an 16-ish girl and a 12-ish boy happen to naturally sound the same through a statistical impossibility, then I'd go with the "choose your PC's voice" theory.
On a related note, it may not be *possible* for someone with fully-formed lungs to speak as high and whispery as Subaru does, all the time.

nah, usually a new question will pop out of the abyss. And i wondered the same thing during intermezzo. One scene showed the three girls talking and there wasn't a keyboard in site.

Yea, I don't get it. Maybe.. Well, maybe things changed between //SIGN, and //Limality, but that doesn't anwser the whole thing in Intermezzmo. x.x;;. But that picture, I should probably link to the full size, because it's just a blueish headset on __________'s head, no microphone. @_@

The girls in Intermezzo were wearing headsets... which is confusing, considering the headset is released during //INFECTION, which occurs about 5 years after Intermezzo...

Some computers have microphones built into the monitor...in fact, my computer has a microphone built into the monitor....This is, what? 2007 were talking about here...all computer could have built in microphones. ^-^
