Is she a cat girl? She has huge ears, which is strange for a cat...but she has a cat tail, cat eyes. With her face coloring and ears, she looks a bit like a bunny. (Seig said he liked bunny girls better, right? hmmm....)

Maybe she's a cabbit-girl?

i'd have to say Mia is pure pu.. ahem, cat, im probly only half way thru the game so far so i dont know her true nature, but it seems that whenever there is trouble she is there

. Before i started playing .hack infection i had never even heard of .hack

so im sure there is much lore for me to yet learn, any way back to the point

Well if you listen to what some of the other players of the World that you run into,or have a chance to talk to.They mention of someone in an alley talkin with a cat player.That pretty much narrows it down when you do go to the alley and you find Mia with Elk

While Mia's player may indeed possibly be male, I am not inclined to think so. As for the character, I also am inclinded to think that she is in fact a she. Both the japanese and english voices are feminine, she does, indeed, have a female body type, AND I think she's the same Mia as in Luminality, so...

Japanese version, Mia refers to themself as "Boku." Further more, Mia is on the top half of the member address list with the REST OF THE MALE CHARACTERS~! ^_^

IMO, I think there's a specific reason WHY Mia refers to themself as "Boku" and why they like Aromatic Grass... and it has to do with Tsukasa...

By the way, on the argument about the Japanese voice being feminine, yes. However, this is the same Seiyuu who plays Chrono in the Chrono Crusade dramas and Dilandau in Escaflowne. Mia's Japanese VA -does- do male characters. A lot.

In fact, a clip I've heard of Mia from vol 3 creeps me out because I can't HELP but think of Chrono in this scene. @.@;;; And when Takayama Minami plays Chrono, she has a -very- creepy voice sometimes. @.@;;;; And that just gave me -shivers- to hear Mia's dialogue in that. n.n;;;

Anyway, yes, most male characters are done by females. When they're male teenagers anyway.

Actually, I didn't know at first, when I saw Mia I didn't know, heck I didn't know about Elk either. When I heard his voice I couldn't believe he was a guy, but at the scene before you and Elk have to meet Mia. Elk asks Mia if she likes HIM.. as in Kite. And Elk admits he liked her, later on Mia said she felt weird about it too when she saw Elk.

Otherwise I have no idea. ;D Unless it's another Tsukasa story, and the way Mia talks reflects on something else. >>;

I don't know technically by actual names or anything, I can say that Elk's English VA sounds a lot like the same VA that plays Tsukasa in the English dub of SIGN as well... (Don't gripe if I'm wrong, I've already decided to avoid the dubs. n.n;;; ) So if that's true, then they're playing on that as well then...

...and I still like her job playing Elk better than Tsukasa. @.@;;;

However, that only adds to my belief that there's someth on that. But... at this rate, it may be best to move this discussion to the spoiler board soonish, because then we won't have to be so limited on what we can and cannot say here. n.n;;

I think I'm gonna stick to calling Mia an it, just as I do some other characters in this series. ^^; As far as I know, Mia looks feminine, but then yeah, there's that speech thing. But hey, look at Haruka from Sailor Moon. >.> You never know. Oyeah... That's CHRNO'S VOICE? *dies* I have to check that again... and I saved over it! ;-; Argh, I hope he/she shows up again soon!
