Well, it would make sence... seeing how all of The World is infected and filled with Data Bugs left and right, I'm not that surprised to see them randomly floating in dungeons.

Well, it could laso be the result of random hackers duplicating the item.. that tends to happen alot in online games.. from what I've seen.. c.c;;

Yeah, but those Virus cores starts floating starting from outbreak. and they're already giving you virus cores since infection ^^;

They were probably floating around the protected (infected) dungeons in the earlier games, people like Balmung and Helba who have access to those areas (Balmung due to his contacts with Lios, and Helba cause of her uber h4xxor1ng) probably just picked them up, and later gave them to Kite cause he needed them.

Actually now that I think about it, Lios probably used his power to get them, and then gave them to his lapdog (Balmung) to give to Kite. I'm pretty sure he has enough power to extract virus cores from the game.

Well, Lios did mention he did some wierd fuxxoring up to a monster in order to get a Virus Core. Lios does have the power to rewrite the monsters to get their Cores (just not with a spiffy bracelet, duh), but I guess with this little computers up in his office. Or something. Whatever he does, he can get them too.
