.Hack//Dusk, Powerpuff Girls for anime lovers?!

Post by TwinBladerRaven »

I noticed something about the way that .Hack//Dusk is drawn. It seems like they have big eyes and little bodies, with the exception of the adult characters. It reminds me of Powerpuff Girls. I just can't get used to the way they look, it sorta creeps me out and wouldn't it be better if they just redid it the way .Hack//Sign looked, but what's YOUR opinion?

True...

Post by TwinBladerRaven »

True but, it just really doesn't fit in with the other .Hack//Series. In Hack//Sign everything was depressing and serious, and in the games the mood started to get killed, but everything is so happy happy joy joy with Hack//Dusk

Way to spam, spam pirate.
In most styles, anime characters have big eyes.. It's been a legendary thing since "Robo-boy" or "Rocket-boy" or whatever it was called, back in the 50's.
it was a drawing trend that caught on, & alot of Cartoon Networks new shows seem to be anime-inspired/induced.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Really, American animation seems to be consciously mimicking anime these days. Or maybe the two or merging ... either way, I'm not really certain how I feel about it.

And yet I've never seen a Japanese character in an American show ... I wonder what *that* could mean? (Derisive snort) We can handle invading aliens, but not anyone from further away than England.

Yeah, Marvel even came out with a pretty stupid mangaverse almost a year back. Hey you can be influenced by an art style, but don't flat-out copy it just for $$$.

Only american toon that makes the japs justice is Samurai Jack, just because it has some of the best action sequences...ever.

Back on topic....

I find Dusk also quite traumatizing for the .hack series, everything being so serious and "c00l" and then changing to some hippy's dream. Heck i bet in dusk that aromatic grass myth would be true, if u catch my flow...

I heard a rumour of a .hack//game manga... but anyway, I'd imagine that it'd be in the //SIGN style, though there would probably be a few more lighthearted moments in it. At least in the beginning... once you get around to plot in //OUTBREAK and to a lesser extent //MUTATION the thing gets much more serious...

Though if they included Piros there'd definatly be quite a few humorous scenes...

It isn't going to be a manga. It's going to be a novel.
It will be telling the story of the games from BlackRose's point of view.
You can see some art from it on CC's site.

Hmmmm..... You see that little button in the corner of my sig? Click it. -_-;;
