Regarding hotaru's gender
Where is what stated? That HOTARU comes from America? Well, first of all on the Japanese website I believe Piroshi told us that, also, if you have Analysis, it's gotta be in there, and that's been out for a while... And in song and story or something... And like I said, the name thing... And what exactly does Analysis say? I mean, the obvious assumption is that HOTARU is female irl, and it only really needs to say something specific if it's to the contrary, and if it's just a spot in a bio, does it really specify irl or not? Do you have Analysis? What exactly does it say? Feel free to scan/post in Japanese, I'll read it...Brad_Evans wrote:hue? where is that stated? ^^;;Junko wrote: Yeah, though I think that fact has been known for a very long time. In the Japanese version, his name is "HOTARU" (A Japanese name oddly written in Roman characters), which itself gives some foreshadowing to that fact...
that real world image looks like a girl to me, but well, Analysis said that IRL hotaru is female.

^^;;; That's what I got for quoting what Brad_Evans posted. I fixed that now... ^^;YashaOokami wrote:Wow talk about bad quoting,I didnt even say that part :

That wasn't what I was talking about... The name written the way it was foreshadows that HOTARU is a foreigner. It doesn't prove it by any means, but all Japanese people would go "Ah" in hindsight... ^^; But it's true that like "Tsukasa", the name "Hotaru" is gender/given-surname ambiguous... Especially if it's not written in kanjimvrckbass wrote:i dont get it how does Hotaru's name tell its gender (doesnt know the translation so bear with me)

キー・オブ・ザ・トワイライトってなに?
It can be a male given name, a female given name, or a surname, depending on how you write it. Being written in Roman characters makes it quite ambiguous... ^^;Xhacker wrote:I'm confused. Let me guess, "Hotaru" can be the name of a male or female, just like "Tsukasa".

Well, since there's no real stating her gender in the manga, I guess it would just be some ordeal that shouldn't be this big of a problem.
Drama & Anime tend to be quite off on their stories.. It's kind of like Tenchi Muyo, & how the story in each series of it, changes almost entirely.
But, as for the mean time, until Bandai states officially that Hotaru is a boy, I'll just go on thinking the avatar in pink with earings is a girl. >_>;

I cast FAIL on those who mock my old signature.
Bear is already keeping an eye on this; as for the gender issue, I still see it as a stupid little arguement, & I agree that it's just going in circles. If it wasn't mentioned by bandai or in the manga, it must not be that important to debate over.Xhacker wrote:This topic may be locked soon. Its just going in circles. I think that if you've noticed, 3 pages should be enough to answer Hotaru's gender. (which is still unanswered.)
