Who here is for war.
That's right. I think it's kinda 'too late' to keep protesting now. I mean, if we back out now, we're certainly gonna get hit back. x.x;;
And the protesters that are out there (gosh... Some of the stories about them that I've heard. x.x;;;), are so busy with their worries about the fact that they don't want war, they probably aren't really thinking of the dangers that our troops are facing. They should turn that energy into supporting them. ._.

Budget Zen: When you see something so stupid that your mind goes blank rather than try to rationalize it.
The USA <Bush> doesn’t like Saddam. And we <Bush> went to the UN and said "hey guys lest go get Saddam!" and the UN said "um... lets not" so Bush went off on his own and decided it was <supposedly> his duty to get rid of Sadam on his own. Now what if China decided they needed to oust Bush, but the UN said no. would we want china to get rid of the evil dictator Bush? i mean come on the guy didn’t even win the election. And he still gets to run the country?
I would like to point out though I think it has been said before the majority of Americans <USA> are not in favor of a war. i myself think that at most we should just have gotten ready for an attack. To react as quickly as possible if the Sh*t did hit the fan.
Now, for those of you in the USA remember this war thing when you vote.
Also to be completely fair, usually what one president starts another one has to finish and then that president gets all the credit good or bad. So, if in the next 6 years these tax cuts come back to bite us in the ass... its Bushes fault.
And personally I’m a little concerned that a man named after pubic hair has his finger on "The Button."

Also I am a big fan of USA I think we are a great country.. Even if we do let the one with the most charisma win the presidency over the one who is best for the job. I would gladly die for this country, but I wound not kill for it.
And the analogy about getting hit in the head I did think about it and I felt. That I would get my friends and go beat the snot out of the guy, but if my friends tried to talk me out of it I would probably cool down, and just be on my guard next time I see him on the street.
We <USA> look at America as a great loving country, and tend to believe in one nation under God. But it is how we act in times of stress that show what this country is truly like. I think that the people of this country are every thing we want out country to me. When 9-11 happened the whole country came together people were talking on the street and I almost felt that if we could keep that level of unity going then 9-11 would ultimately be a good thing. But it slowly died and we are back to being silent, solitary people. We had something great there in the midst of the tragedy. But still it showed what we could be; now all we really need to do is get the government to match the people.
It’s the people we tend to forget about. We think of the solders, and the leaders of these countries but we never meet the people, until I saw the news footage of Baghdad I thought of it as a city in the sand like you see in Indiana Jones movies. But its a real place it looks vaguely like Dallas.
Ok I’ll stop now I’m sure I’m rambling.

Whether he won the election or not... Gore wouldn't have had the balls to deal with September 11th or this war...
Given the circumstances Bush could have done better... but Mr. "I invented the internet" would have cracked and wet himself many times over.
I love my contry... and going along with that I love my leaders... and I love my president. Even though he has his flaws, and we became an agressor contry... its all due to those damn French... I'm not making excuses or anything but the French started the opposition to war. That from a contry that hasn't been able to defend itself for the last 120 years... what do you guess they would do if they were asked to protect the world... of course run behind the happy little shield of diplomacy... Diplomacy failed 11 years ago with Sadam... why would that change now.
Were at war and the world looks badly in our direction. I say screw them, America kick a*beep*s!

I think this is a personal problem w/ Bush because he said in one of his speeches "this is the man who tried to kill my daddy" and I dont think that he needs to put U.S. soldiers and Iraq people in danger because of his little personal issue. And some of the U.S. soldiers fighting for us don't know what their fighting for other than our safety and what the government is telling them. But Suddam does need to stop and I'm w/ Bush to make him stop, its just that there could be another way to prevent the deaths of any more Iraq people. If I was old enough there might be a 50/50 chance that I will fight for my country and the Iraq people. But to be honest I really care nothing of this war, I just don't want anymore of the Iraq people(who maybe,in their own thoughts other than the lies spread by Suddam, thought we were good) I don't want them thinking we deserve what we get and that were barbarians. Thats all I have to say.

Thats quite a look at the world...
So would you consider the people that pay taxes to that regime innocent? They supply the funds for weapons and training of solders...
Nope i'm afraid its not that easy to determine who is innocent... You can't just go in with guns blazing then count how many people you killed... The US is doing the best thing they can to minimize casualties. And they have done an outstanding job. Things could have been and could still get much worse. Don't forget nothing is over yet. There could be war for months to come.

you know even in the midst of 9-11 i never found myself all the terrorized. and it is NOT the USA's job to police the rest of the world. and no situation can be blamed wholy on one country, or another. that said i got this in my email from a friend and thought it might be of intrest.

It both is and isn't the USA's job to interfere in other country's politics as we do. We do it because, yes, as a world power we (possibly mistakenly) feel it is our duty to look after our fellow countries, but there's also the fact that, because this world is no longer so separate, and the actions of one country can have dire consequences on another, we need to look after ourselves and assure our continued existance and prosperity.
Of course, because we have such an enourmous market with imports from other countries, you can expect that we want to keep our eye on them so that we can continue to get these imports and such. The more allies we have, the more stuff we get, after all.
Now, it's true that many of the countries that dislike us claim to do so because of our interference and/or other international policies, but we can't change that now, and we can't back out now.
As far as Iraq and other such threats, whether we 'should' have or not, we have, and we can't change that now. We're defending ourselves by the same idea that 'the best defense is a good offense', and taking a major threat out now, before something like 9/11 can happen again. Believe me, if Saddam could do it, he'd terrorize our country to bring us down to our knees. He can't do it, and we intend to keep him from being able to do it.
So, think about that fact. Whether you think it's 'right' or 'wrong' to be at war with the purpose of taking out Saddam and his government and 'liberating' Iraq, that's your own opinion. Just keep in mind that the soldiers out there are defending you so that things like 9/11 don't happen again. Whether it affected you or not, the fact is, it could, and the USA's intention is to lower the chances of it happening to you. Though I, myself, don't often approve of the way our country handles things, at this point, I'm feeling somewhat thankful for the fact that I can live here in (relative) peace.
As a note, this thread is likely coming near to its end, if only for the fact that most of the moderators are tiring of hearing about the war (Yes, so soon, I know). However, I'll say again, I think you guys have done a wonderful job of discussing it without the flamewar I was fearing/expecting from anything with this sort of subject matter. I'm very pleased, and also impressed by your willingness to state your opinions, but also acknowledge the opinions of others without telling them that they're completely wrong/stupid/etc.
