.hack//UdeDen 12 (final)
so um... what exactly happened at the end, before the credits and after... i was thinking that shugo and rena had sacrificed themselves to save "the world" and its players, like maybe they became part of the game, but the part after the credits sort of made me think differently... so i really dont know what happened
i'd talk to myself, but i dont feel like getting into an arguement

LOL, if you are looking for the answers to questions, Episode 12 is NOT the place to find them...a quick Rhyste like Summary...
[spoiler]
Shugo goes: "We have to save Rena!"
Everyone goes "Let's Use our kickass magics!"
Monster goes "Hmm..think I felt a scratch."
Everyone goes, "It's hopless."
Shadow goes, "Hi, I'm Komiyan."
Shugo goes, "You're The MacAfee Cleaned Komiyan!!!"
Everyone.."OOohh..Ahhhh"
Much contemplation insterted here...
Shugo goes..."I know! Let's data drain...Ourselves! We'll get rid of the virus!"
Everyone becomes messed up looking.
Shugo goes, ready to kick some ass!
Shugo...kicks some ass..Moruti's behAInd..
Strange hacker girl goes "It's all about death! I wanted it..."
Shugo + Rena go "Death is bad!"
World starts disappearing....
Shugo + Rena get weird....
The End? I'm not so sure what happens in the end...

i definetly agree. i was new to the .hack series and started with //Sign... i watched all of sign, then all of the liminality OVAs, and i was looking forward to dusk SOOOOOOOO much, youhave no idea. it bothered me that it was kinda different from sign. it seemed like it was geared more towards a younger audience at first. the first half of the series they were just having fun in the world and going to events... when the knights started hunting down OniChan and Ginkan showed up i was thrilled to hell. Then to my demise to see Ginkan deleted after 5 god damn minutes!!... i was hoping something would happen where they need his help and get his charachter undeleted from the graveyard or SOMETHING...ANYTHING
!
Ahh jesus... im really disapointed with the series. After episode 10 it started to get really good because they were so close to Rena and fighting in that unfinished town. Then, it just ends.... and they show up at the end all happy and ready to go out and party together..WTF if you cant tell i JUST finished watching 12 like 30 minutes ago and im pissed. i cant believe how short it was, how long in the series it took to take some direction, and just ends right after it starts to get good. man... please tell me that there is another series planned and its going to be 20+ episodes of a great storyline...i havent read the mangas so i dont know what material is out there, but im sure theres something better than Dusk

Hmm... Slap me over the head if I sound crazy, but I actually liked the ending... o.o
All I have to say is, all this because some moron wanted to know the meaning of death? Geez, what a corrupted kid.
I'm kinda glad I watched the credits... I would've never known there was a short scene after that.
I dunno, I kinda liked UdeDen n.n;

I got disapointed with .hack//Dusk after they used Ginkan as a throw away character. I admit not everyone likes him but hell he deserved more than what they gave em.
Soc_f? I love that idea of the party needing to get Ginkan's help and haveing to go undelete or restore his char from data fragments in the Cyber Slum. Thank god they did not have Tsukasa or Subaru show up or they likely have been used as fodder etc as well.
Over all .hack//Dusk was a real let down after SIGN and the OVAs for me.
But on the flip side Ginkan's player likely made a new account shortly after as it hinted that Subaru was still around but I got to note he had to be hanging with Krim/Crim a lot as where else would he get the Tuxcido mask bit? >.>

Maybe I'm one of the few people who sees that differently. Perhaps it's because I'm used to games like Suikoden, a story that puts death in a different perspective.
I didn't see Ginkan as a 'throw away' character in that episode. It was the first time he'd ever managed to do something amazingly cool, for one thing, and he really got the spotlight.
But all actions have their consequences. For helping save Shugo, Ginkan became a sacrifice. I also get the idea that the message he gave to Kamui was not unheard. She hesitated before she pulled the lever. She heard what he said, even if she didn't stop.
But that's the thing about sacrifices. To bring him back would lessen the impact of what he 'died' for. He went through everything with his ideals held close to his heart, still doing what he had wanted to do. Protecting the things that Subaru held dear.. fair treatment of players, upholding the values that she held, to the very end.
He was hardly 'thrown away'. I think it takes away from what he did to consider his sacrifice as worthless by saying such.
