Old PS2 have problems reading discs, especially the blue-backed ones...
There's another generation of PS2 that will be released when the price drops to $150 if I remember... unless the price is there already.
It has better DVD functions, which is a plus [ no more 2x only FF!!! XD ]

The biggest problem with an older PS2 (before 6/2002), which you can get off of ebay or any games store as a previously owned, which they may or may not be, is that they had a tendency to overheat, and also had a problem parsing out information blocks off of a blue backed disc due to an error with the lens that did not refract the light patterns properly off of the foil layer on the disc. It really didnt have anything to do with the color because it would also do it to silver backs and sometimes gold. Correctly summarize everything they basically used a cheap lens #1, #2 older PS2's also had heat problems, which would cause them to overheat by an overvoltage somewhere within the power supply, which in turn also caused faulty voltage into the laser which could also cause the problem. SOLUTION: you can either get the information about hacking your PS2 on the internet or risk buying another cheapy at your local electronics/games dealer!

that's DOT hack you insensitive clod!

I've had those same problems with my PS2. It seemed to affect all CDs, even PS2 games that were on CDs (blue discs such as Way of the Samurai and Gauntlet). I've never had a problem getting my PS2 to read DVD-based PS2 games, but lately it has stopped reading DVD movies (and anime). I have another DVD player, but it's really annoying how my PS2 has aged so terribly. Especially since it's my THIRD one.
Slightly on topic: I couldn't even get my PS2 to read LIMINALITY... but oh well.

Hmmm... I have been thinking. When I went out to buy Mutation. The store clerk (who evedently had played Infection) said. "You know, those people who created .hack are really cleaver! They took a game and broke it into four pieces and sell it for 200$!!) lol

WOW,what a genius..how long did it take him to figure that one out?
They must be referring to the box set of all the four volumes into one box,for the amount of 200.Would be nice to have all the games at once, but I still wouldnt pay 200.Either way,you still are paying 200 as a grand total when you buy all four games together ;P
