I kind of doubt it. Although artbooks have a (very slim, generally) chance of being published in English, I don't know of any purely informational books about a game/anime that have been translated.

Besides, it doesn't really have that much in the way of exclusive information - almost all of it is taken directly from the games, anime, etc.

In that case, I hate to break it to you, but Asaha is a surname. Machiko is a given name. :P

Oops. I didn't mean to imply that I thought they were the same person. I was just saying that you can't use the names as proof of that. ^^;

I don't think they're the same... They don't look that much alike, and they have different voice actresses anyway (Akiko Hiramatsu for BT, Yumi Touma for Asaha).

Mysteries:
Mistral - Yuki's sister?
Harold - Helba's Apprentice?
Rachel - Ginkan - Journalist partners?
Wiseman and sora IRL are friends.
Subaru lost his ability to use her half body down because of the Pluto Kiss
Mistral will be in .hack//UdeDen later.
I'll write down the other charas "Skill-Like-CV" if the demand is high Xb
Does Wiseman attempt to find and rescue Sora in the games after he was data drained by Skeith?

Take in mind that .hack//Enemy isn't the original CCG in Japan. It's a completely new one altogether.

The chances of the Encyclopedia being released in the US are very slim. Unless a publisher can get the rights from Bandai, I don't think we'll be seeing it in English. It's like what they said with the novels at their panel- they don't have a book publication department (Kadokawa does it for them in Japan), so... they're at the mercy to find a group to sign on with them.

No, it doesn't. Tokyo Pop is not a novel translation company. They are a manga translation company. Translating a novel is a different level of work than manga. If they aren't going to branch from doing what they are now, there's a good chance that they're not going to be the ones handling the novels.

I would be pleasantly surprised if they did it.

Keep in mind, the .hack Encyclopedia isn't an -official- official Bandai release. Meaning, it's fan-made, with Bandai's okay on it. There's really no new information in it, it's just all the information scrapped together and put into book format, as it doesn't include any new information, and listing 'mysteries' isn't something, at least I think, that a company would do in a publication of theirs.

Stuff like this, though, is common in Japan, as copyrights and stuff work quite a bit differently there. Likely, something like this wouldn't fly that well in America, as with most un-imported products.

As for the novels, I also doubt an effort will be made to translate and release them in the US, unless they did that -beforehand-. But I doubt the American companies really believe that MMORPG/game/anime fans do a heck of a lot of actual novel reading >P Whether or not that is true isn't the point, but from a mass perspective, the audience the .hack project is aiming for doesn't seem to be the type who would spend money on it. And, as always, what the company thinks is what will affect what we get.

Too bad, so sad.

So, I'm confused... Why does CC2 advertise it here, then?
