Theories...
Does this mean Seig is still playing around in The World,(and again, i havent seen any of //MUTATION or the second Liminality)Even though hes in a coma, like Tsukasa?Gnosis wrote:Thw World is Virtual reality game, I think it as much as the Matrix.
how they got coma?
simply, their mind is in data form, and always connected to the game. When data drain comes and gets them, their data become messed, caused coma.
but still their data/conciousness is in the game.

Indeed, in //Legend of the Twilight, we see that they go to a 'storage bin' area while being told, "I am dead" over and over again. Sieg was probably stored along with the others. Tsukasa was an exception, because Morganna needed negative feelings from Tsukasa, and death would seem like heaven for Tsukasa in his initial state.

Hm, yeah... if they aren't in the game.
how can aura revive them?
Aura is only a man-made-thing
not a fairy afterall
May be, Sieg and others are in the world wandering, in a spesial area?
Tsukasa is a spesial case
Or as they just say, in a statis form.

Only High-Level Characters Put Into Comas?
Another thing that supports Dry's theory that after playing in the world for a while your nervous system has been 'locked onto' enough that you can be put into a coma permanently by Data Drain, is this dialogue from the last episode of .hack//SIGN (version translated by ANIME-kraze, and I won't see the 'official' translation until my copy of the last disc arrives next week, so I dunno how accurate it is to the Japanese dialogue):
[when Sora gets Tsukasa, Subaru, and Mimiru to leave Morganna's field]
Sora: [tries to log out, fails]
Sora: "What?"
Morganna: "You've played too much, Sora."
Morganna: "I will teach you that there are things worse than death."
Sora: "N... no!"
Sora: "Don't..."
Sora: "Please don't!!!"
Then he gets Data Drained and put into a coma. Sora probably plays the game 'The World' more than almost ANYONE, else he definitely wouldn't be so high-level. So it makes sense that he'd be incredibly vulnerable to Data Drain - the game's had more than enough time to acquire his data.
Very interesting. I like this theory a LOT. The only person who it doesn't explain is Ginkan, but that can be explained by other things - maybe Ginkan blocking the attack with his sword somehow weakened the attack, or perhaps you have to play for a VERY long time before the game is able to scan your information. After all, who gets successfully put into a coma by Data Drain? Orca, Sora, Sieg ... all VERY high-level characters (is Kaze a high-level character? I just started OUTBREAK, I don't know much about Kaze yet unfortunately..). Ginkan is probably only a mid-level character like Bear, maybe he hasn't played for quite long enough for the game to have an exact lock on him, so he only gets knocked out for a few days, while Mia was such an utter newbie that she only goes unconscious for a few hours! Of course, Tsukasa was successfully Data Drained, yet he was defeated by Ginkan in that battle... but that could just be because ... and, after all, it's not LEVEL that determines how succeptible you are, it's .. considering Tsukasa mostly just played 'The World' as a way to escape and probably didn't bother much with leveling up or adventuring (though he still seems to be stronger than some of the .hack characters, like Mimiru), he could conceivably be at least somewhat weaker than Ginkan even with having played much more frequently and for longer periods of time. Doesn't sound too far-fetched to me. Or maybe he just lost despite being stronger than Ginkan because he's a Wavemaster and Ginkan's a Blademaster, and of course Blademasters are much better at solo fighting than the defensively weak Wavemasters.. so in a duel, a Blademaster might win even if he was at a lower level than a Wavemaster. Plus Ginkan disabled his items (or Sprite Ocarina, at least) - maybe he disabled Tsukasa's skills too. That explains why he didn't cast any spells but during that battle, and also why he didn't stand a chance against Ginkan. Yes yes, it makes sense...
Speculation is fun ^_^
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention the most obvious reason Ginkan probably didn't go into a coma long - the Twilight Bracelets probably aren't nearly as good as Morganna and the Phases are at Data Draining humans. He only got Data Drained by a sole Twilight Guardian, whereas those who went into comas were Data Drained either by a Phase or by Morganna herself. Was just suggesting alternate explanations.

Actually, Sora fell into a coma because Skeith Data Drained him. I explained somewhere the 'levels' of Data Drain and their effects, and Skeith's happens to put people in comas. The reason why Kite and co. don't fall into comas during the game is because the bracelet kinda 'protects' them from getting 'protect broken'. If you'll notice, right before Skeith Data Drained Sora, Sora was protect broken instantly. Silver Knight wasn't protect broken, and the Guardian also has a leved-down Data Drain. In the games, Orca is also Protect Broken, and he falls into a coma. Notice that both times a 'protect break' happened to a character before Data Drain they both fell into comas and didn't even have to be hit to 'P.B' (at least in Sora's case, i believe Orca was hit once by Skeith)
EDIT: Note that Tsukasa did stand quite a fight with Ginkan, usually a simple poke deems a Wavemaster dead, like you said before. Also, Mai was only out for a little bit because she broke the first link in the chain of comatose-ness. Since she's a musician, she recognized the 'a' note which seemed to come with Skeith and Aura. Most people can't hear it (Mr. T in //Liminality 1) which leaves them vulnerable. Note that Tsukasa was Data Drained by Maha, who didn't have its Phase capacities back then.

.hack//CONFUSION
... Yeah, you COMPLETELY misunderstood and misread my post, thedudewhosadude.

I know. I just described that scene o_O;; I was just pointing out that the dialogue for that scene is yet more decent evidence for the theory that Data Drain can only put people into comas w ho have been playing the game for so long that the game has gotten a complete scan of their minds. I wasn't saying anything at all about what was using the Data Drain, how on earth is that relevant?

Right. More irrelevent facts. Great. o_O;;
I KNOW about Protect Break and Data Drain; I wasn't talking about that, I was helping bring up the theory again that explains a lot of stuff in the games, like why Kite was chosen by Helba for the Twilight Bracelet rather than a more experienced, already-powerful and -knowledgeable player, and why only very high-level characters are ever put into comas in the series, and why no very low-level characters are ever put into permanent comas.
EDIT: Note that Tsukasa did stand quite a fight with Ginkan, usually a simple poke deems a Wavemaster dead, like you said before.
Right. Which supports the possibility that Tsukasa is a high-level character and Ginkan isn't, although, as stated, it doesn't really matter since the most likely reason Ginkan didn't fall into a coma wasn't because he was a newbie to The World, it's because he was Data Drained by a mere Twilight Guardian while Tsukasa was Data Drained by a more direct source of the power - maybe by Macha.
Yes, the more generally accepted theory for why Mai escaped falling into a coma is that Mai's exceptional hearing gave her time to escape the game before the Data Drain could permanently damage her, but something about that theory doesn't ring true any more than it rings true to me that the only reason Tokuoka wasn't put into a coma when he was Data Drained was because Mai managed to get him free of the system fast enough.
Those don't ring true to me because, looking at the last episode, it only took about 5-10 seconds for Sora to be put into a coma by Data Drain! We see him get lifted up and Data Drained for a couple of seconds, and then we immediately see his body slump over in the real world after Morganna gives Skeith the command to go after Aura. Tokuoka was stuck attached to the system for a LOT longer than it seems it to have taken Sora to get put into a coma - Mai just sat there watching him for quite awhile as he seemed to be getting drawn into the game, gibbering and drooling (which suggests that Data Drain was having a different effect on him than on Sora to begin with, since Sora didn't go crazy with playing the game on and on; he just slumped over. Tokuoka's reaction could be explained by the system trying to put him into a permanent coma but failing due to having insufficient specific data on him and as a result just overloading his brain temporarily with the strain, just like I presume happened to Mai when SHE was Data Drained) - so why wouldn't Tokuoka have been put into a coma just like Sora was? It doesn't make sense, obviously Mai's supposed immunity due to being able to hear Morganna's ringing tone wouldn't help Tokuoka.
Plus, that one fact that Tokuoka didn't hear the sound and Mai didn't mean ANYTHING, in my humble opinion. Yeah, it's mentioned in the episode that Mai has exceptional hearing, but people in .hack//SIGN were able to hear that sound plenty too, during the two meetings with Harald and in the last episode. It's nothing special, it just seems to indicate either Morganna or Harald (or both) being present. And another perfectly good explanation for why Mai was able to hear the sound during her second encounter with Skeith and Tokuoka couldn't would be because she's been hearing the sound EVERYWHERE ever since she was Data Drained the first time. She's not really HEARING it any of those times (except possibly in the game, though that COULD just be a result of her having a flashback to the last time this happened, when she DID hear it! maybe the sound was only ringing the first time because Morganna was there or something, and the second time it didn't ring (which is why Tokuoka didn't seem to hear it - it wasn't there!), but Mai was remembering the time she was Data Drained more and more distinctly as it seemed to be replaying, so she imagined the sound ringing when it was all just in her head like it was when she heard the ringing in drops of water or in a pencil tapping on a desk), she's just replaying the sound in her head due to it being the sound she kept hearing while she was being knocked unconscious by Data Drain. So who knows? It's possible she escaped due to that, but if it's never stated in .hack why do so many people assume that it HAS to be true? People shouldn't mix up facts specifically stated in .hack with conjectures and assumptions based on such things. Could cause confusion.
Note that Tsukasa was Data Drained by Maha, who didn't have its Phase capacities back then.
And I have no idea what that has to do with anything either. I give up.[/i]

Well, many of your 'theories' were jumbled up, and I didn't know quite how to order my responces. Anyway, none my my 'uselss facts' are usless, as they all disprove your theory. What i was basically telling you was that the amount of time that you've played the game has nothing to do with how long you'll be in a coma. It depends on two factors: the player (who it is) and the form of Data Drain. If Sora was Data Drained by a guardian, he def. wouldn't fall into a coma. Tsukasa 'died' as a result of the Guardian's data drain, so you see, it depends on who gets Data Drained by what. Now, time to respond to your comments:
The reason why it's relevant is because Sora fell into a coma simply because (1) The player is Sora, who does not have Bracelet Protection. (2) Sora was Protect Broken before being Data Drained (3) Skeith was the 'being' that Data Drained Sora. The reason why Morganna said that he was playing the game for too long is because he truly was. He was simply just playing it, he didn't really understand the depth of the Tsukasa situation. He thought of it as just a game. The amount of time you play the world has nothing to do with your data drain-age.
I know all that too. I don't know why you're even bothering to mention this again. When posting theories, one must be able to back it up with facts. Also, the common reply to my comment is "Wha? Then why didn't Kite and co. fall into comas?" So I was replying before the question. Right. More irrelevent facts. Great. o_O;; If you haven't noticed, you're being quite rude. By posting on this board, I'm broadcasting my message to everyone, not just you. How am I supposed to know what you already 'know'?
...Kite was chosen by Helba for the Twilight Bracelet... (1) Kite was chosen by Aura, Helba simply said that she believed that you were the right choice. ...rather than a more experienced, already-powerful and -knowledgeable player... See: http://www.geocities.com/magicyellowsno ... ilight.jpg ...why only very high-level characters are ever put into comas in the series, and why no very low-level characters are ever put into permanent comas. At the end of //SIGN, Tsukasa is level 5 (the copy of Tsukasa in the games come from after //SIGN) Also, Orca is only level 50. That's only about half-way up! Note that at the end of the game, everyone was put into permanent comas, although they didn't last quite too long. It's true that around then all the characters should be around your level, but what if you're around level 70? Also, note that one can be level 99 and only be in the game for a short while. It's like raising Pokemon: You go to a high level enemy with the low-level pokemon coming out first. You immediatly switch it out for a stronger fighter. After the battle, both the weak and strong pokemon get exp. It's the same here.
...Those don't ring true to me...-...Could cause confusion. For all we know, Sora could have also been doing the same. We only saw his back. Also now the in //DUSK we see it from in front of a person. Shugo tries to take off his headset, but his hands are frozen in the controller position. Note that Tokuoka continued to press buttons even after Mai turned the game off. Only when she really decked the system did he stop. Morganna was not present with Skeith, only Tokuoka and Mai were, so the 'a' note is somewhat of an enigma with where it is heard. The reason why we believe this to be true is because it is the most likely theory that we've heard, and there are several facts to back it up.
And I have no idea what that has to do with anything either. I give up. You mentioned about Tsukasa being succesfully Data Drained. You were still with the 'more-you-play-the-game-the-easier-it-is-to-data-drain-you-to-put-you-into-a-coma' theory, so I'm thinking that you implied that the reason Tsukasa wasn't comatose (PC and all) is because of his attitude and newbieness. Like I said before, it depends on who gets data drained, and by what. Tsuakasa was data drained by Maha, an NPC. Surely the power of an NPC is limited! So you see, it was truely you who read my post wrong. Touche.

I saw Morganna saying "You've been playing too much" as her making fun of him. As Sora had seen every thing he did in The World as part of a game, and that it didn't have any actual consquences. Morganna simply showed him that the things he did in The World could affect him personally in a BIG way...
Poor Sora, he never saw it coming until the very end.
