Its pretty much the same thing. Since Lios is a Sys Admin, he is allowed to do things that players wouldn't normally as a means of cleaning up/protecting the servers. Thats the reason he has the data drain-type ability. Now, how he uses it (As in morals/judgement and what not)... thats another story.

Exactly. Look at Udeden, Balmung can modify character/field data because he becomes a Sys Admin and no longer a player. (Though, I don't know if this applies to the manga, as I have yet to read it.)

Lios does have access to special skills that help him do his job as an administrator. However, none of those skills are Data Drain. [spoiler]Like I said earlier, Data Drain isn't in the World's specs. So as far as system administration knew, Harald had not programmed it in. Since nobody at CC Corp. is a good enough hacker to uncover secret aspects of the World like Data Drain, they can't use it.

And if Lios could use Data Drain, why was he so upset when Kite's bracelet broke? He said it was the only thing they had that could stop the Wave. That obviously wouldn't be the case if he could use Data Drain as well.[/spoiler]

True, he doesn't use Data Drain, but the point I was trying to make is that he has the ability to delete/modify game data as he choses (which is done in a simmilar manner to that of Data Drain), as well as that he is allowed to use this ability.

The proof i am using is just that when he gets rid of the crappy data a braclet appears on Lios' arm and also when he is about to use it on kite.

Seph, Lios can not use Data Drain at ALL, it's not a part of the game! in order for him to get Data Drain, Aura or Morganna would have to give it to him, which they obviously wouldnt do, you can't judge a skill on the graphics it uses, that's just stupid, besides, Lios would get in trouble if he had Data Drain, since it's a health hazard, and if he did, how come he knows almost nothing about it? why wouldnt he use it to fix the problems of the world? why would they need Kite at all?
