Yeah, but almost everybody will have the sound on. If they turned the sound off, then they couldn't hear the voices of their party members or anything like that. I think Data Drain affects people through the eyes as well, so cutting the speakers probably wouldn't solve the whole problem.

i believe that Data Drain affects all the senses that are used to play "The World" and since its about 2006 i dont think there are gonna be computers that dont come without speakers =P

or can u do what Mai Minase did and just destroy the computer, but since computers might cost a WHOLE LOT since technology has evolved (evidently).

so the question is

ur computer...or ur conciousness :?:

it all depends on the person who is being Data Drained.

Your theory would make sense but probably not in a lot of cases (since i think 8 people were comatose?)

hm i will TRY and explain it

when u play the game your nerve system is connected with the game and player character ( i know i didnt word it right)

when u get data drained the connection malfunctions and ur conciousnes id still in your character

since ur not playing the game the connection wavers

(the outside merges with the inside) like Bith says (so i believe)

if the nerves were actually connected to a terminal, wouldn't there be safeguards for electrical shocks or like a backup system in the event of a malfunction?

to a certain extent, as you know this was all new to C.C corp and the scientists that made the VR terminal so being Data Drained by a guardian,Dawn Wanderer, or a Phase wasnt quite exactly included in the testing phase

You said when someone gets data drained, which includes guardians and others, there is a malfunction. I asked that in the event of a malfunction, wouldn't there be failsafes, like a secondary electrical route to support the first?

there should be a secondary but in some cases the malfunction from data drain wouldnt even trigger ANY of the safeguards.

its just a possibility (if i am not answering ur question sorry  )

no, actually you did :). So Guardians, Dawnwanders, ect. somehow do not trigger any backup systems through the use of DD. I got you 8)

correct, you cant rely on the technology to save you when its the technology itself endangering you (in some cases)
