because all altimit i have seen besides in the ova is the same 3d icons and borderless apps like the news browser in the game siries. or the desktop in harolds computer. or the desktop in .hack//lotb ep1 thats all i am saying. i dont think that .hack is anti microsoft propaganda. if anything its anti PSO propaganda. seeing how the game almost looks like a clone of Pso for the DC.

Uh... .hack//SORA....
It can hardly be called -anti- PSO because it puts the MMORPG aspect of it in a good light e_e; Altimit is a monopoly that's taken over the world for the most part, and bad stuff happens because of it, thus putting it in a NEGATIVE light.
This is a terribly simply idea to grasp, you know.

Why does everything have to be a 'clone of this' or a 'parody of that'?! Perhaps it's an original story involving our age and time? Perhaps because it INVOLVES things of our age and time, people see it as mocking, when it wasn't meant to be.
Doesn't anyone know what something original is nowadays? Apparently not. ._.

Well, originality is possible...
... until someone discovers your sources o.-
Everything is derived from something.. it has to be inspired from something well known because they want people to relate to it. PSO, Ragnarok Online, Windows OS.. these are well known things, and it's easier for a mass audience to relate to those things.
.hack is, after all, a grand marketing scheme. They want to reach as many people as they can, and so they use many ideas from many sources.
However, combined together, they create something new, and thus original.
And there's hardly anything wrong with that, right? ^^

As I said, many ideas from other places are combined to make something new. Examples are:
Assassin Class from RO looks strikingly similar to Sora's design (Ninja Type Twin Blade)
PSO-like monsters.
Kingdom Hearts-like battle system (that seems to be a new theme in RPGs, however)
It's not copying, it's simply inspiration.

DUDE.
IN .HACK.
YOU HAVE RANDOM BATTLES.
THAT'S LIKE.
EVERY OTHER RPG.
... PWNZED.
Harold created The World because Altimit was a monopoly, btw. : P
^--- Insert spoiler mode here.Niu wrote:actually in later episodes. it turn out obvious Altimit is picturing Window. And the whoel .hack is a sort of a paraody of accusing Window's monopoly.

and god said unto cain, "wow you're pretty stupid."
If you haven't noticed, .hack IS in itself a big marketing ploy. Books, anime, manga, games... Bandai ties them together to solve a puzzle. Then release bits at a time, leaving the consumer wanting more to solve the puzzle that is .hack. They use exsisting things [anime, games, pop culture] to hook the consumer in, then plant the consumer in this mystery. To solve the mystery, you buy every product out there, the book, the game, etc.
It is not a bad ploy, entirely. The consumer, even though spending their money, is happy. And the company is making money too, so they are happy as well.

Er, Kama didn't say it WAS a monopoly. Just a very effective marketing ploy. Which I agree with. I certainly don't mind giving my hard earned $$ to get more .hack!i would not say project .hack is a monolopy. i would say its realy big. but its not like all anime is owned by project .hack, or all videogames run on ALTIMIT.

ALTIMIT, on the other hand, is clearly stated to be a monopoly...with The World being on only MMORPG (I think...I must double check) for ALTIMIT. So...The World is a monopoly, that puts people into comas. >.>;;; Scary.
