yeah, i've noticed a sort of trend lately, a lot of german language in video games, the beginning of infection (thats the epitath? cool

), and the title of Xenosaga, i've noticed it a lot recently (and just to go with the flow, see my name;)

As for the entire Epitaph, you can find it, in Japanese, in Soramyon no Heya on the CC2 .hack page. There are no furigana, so good luck! Nobody has felt like translating all of it yet, unfortunately!

And as this is a japanese game, I would trust the japanese before I trusted the german. Game to reality, game to reality! The reality is, it's supposed to be in japanese, even if, in the game, it's supposed to be in german!

Well then, please continue on topic!

The epitaph we see in the Sora page is not the same on in the game. It is the original stroy that Emma has written, but not her copy that regards the The World.

i've broken it down on another board. here's my take

Yet to return, the shadowed one
who quests for the Twilight Dragon

Theory: Shadowed one= Cubia, Twilight Dragon=Kite
It was said that Cubia cannot die so long as Kite's bracelet(the twilight Bracelet) was broken. This is according to a post from someone on this board who beat 4. They also said that Cubia is the Shadow of the bracelet(Implying He is the shadowed one).

Rumbles the dark hearth
And Helba, Queen of the Dark, has raised finally her army
Apeiron, King of Light, beckons...
Helba=Hacker Helba(More than just picking her name from this) Army=Kite's friends, Apeiron=Lios(system admins). Nuff said.

At the base of the rainbow doth they meet.
Against the abomniable "wave" together they fight.
Wave=8 Phases Base of rainbow=Protected areas(just a speculation) or maybe the rainbow that seperates good from evil? bah i'll get back to you.

Explaining the 8 phases of the wave(Any help explaining this part would be nice for now this is all i can provide): Phase 1: Skeith the Terror of Death

The Confusing Mirage, Innis
Decieves those that see it with illusions, rescues the waves
Phase 2: Innis the Mirage of Deceit

The wave soaring high, when its head is smashed,
A new wave will emerge
To become Magus's power.
When Innis is defeated a new wave will emerge:
Phase 3: Magus the Propagation

When questioning the wave,
hope's light will be lost when he speaks of the
dark future of where sorrow and resignation reign.
Using Fiddlehiem's Technique
Phase 4: Fiddlehiem the Prophet.

When englufed by the Waves of Calamity, Gole will plan
Phase 5: Gorra the Machinator

The sweet snare of conciliation is Maha
Phase 6: Maha the Temptress.(aka Mia)

The Waves, an exceeding maelstrom
Nothing can escape

If someone gets me the japanese version of the entire Epitath, I can take a crack at translating it. I know someone fluent in japanese so I might beable to get it translated.

That is what I said at first but someone told me it was really "eight Phases of the wave" wait...eight phases of Morganna, never mind then. Should've caught that. Hehe.

Wait The wife (somethingd) by the "waves". See Waves is used as plural. The wave must be the 8 Phases. And Morganna must be the wife because Harold says "She is My daughter she is our daughter" in his note which people say was to Morganna.

ShugoKite Morganna is the world. I don't think it could be a computer version of Emma. Emma was someone whom he loved, but his love was never returned. She died in a car accident as revealed in .hack//Lim 3. Morganna is just an AI Created to carry out the Epitath. Then again...i really don't know.

I tried to translate the version of the Epitaph on the actual japanese website, but came across a small problem. The software I was using won't translate japanese in images. Could someone tell me another place to find the exact epitaph, without it being on an image.

I originally have believed that Shadowed One is Cubia, but I found that utterly wrong. As Cubia is the shadow itself, not being shadowed by anything.

And comparing the Epitaph in the game(vol.1-4) and the Epitaph in Sora Shrine on Cyber Connect Home Page. Shadowed One=Saya the Travelers. Saya the three travelers who were first shadowed, sets off to seek for Twilight Dragon. Shadowed One=Saya and they are the good guys.

And Kite, he can be argued to be either Saya the Traveller and the Twilight Dragon. As his action fits both. But I believe Kite is Saya as Harod calls Kite the Traveller.
