*sniff sniff* My Computer Is Systematically Dying...
I like my computer. Both of 'em. ~.~ My main one is the one I run my AIM nick from. This (Vorfeed) is also a server machine that's in the apartment. She's been running like this with occaisional downtimes every other week or so. However, if I shut this comp down, I shut down a bunch of communications on the network.
I have a second computer (Morgana) that's a laptop. T'was my Christmas present, actually. Since I'm a multimedia student, I need a computer that can handle everything that I do at school, and the laptop accessibility makes it much easier to work with- that way I can take it to and from school on a regular basis.
Here-
Vorfeed:
Windows 2000 Professional / P2-400 mhz / 256m ram / 94 gig HD space / busted TV input card for the vid card. n.n;; / DVD-ROM and Zip drive / HP 5100c Scanner - She's a good computer. A bit slow, but she's actually a touch faster than other comps of her speed. She's also been known to boot up faster than most other machines.
Morgana (yes. she is named after -that- Morgana, btw...)
Windows XP Home Ed. / 2.0 ghz / 512m ram / 40 gig HD / Radeon 7200 mobility / DVD-R/CD-RW combo - She's named after Morgana for a reason. I've had to take her into the shop three times the week I got her. When my friend suggested this name for her (she was originally named Delphinus- after the ship in Skies of Arcadia), she stopped acting up. Completely. She still finds it necessary to tell us who's in charge, though. @.@;;;
I have two other comps, tho. But they're not as active as my main two. Galvea (A p2-450) has a TV video out card on her... so I used her for recording digital subs to video... but Morgana does that too, and better. She's somewhat backup for Vorfeed... but Vor tends to run circles around her. I'll probably only really end up cannablising her when it's time to replace stuff in Vorfeed. Perhaps even take a sim of ram I added to her sometime. n.n;;; We'll find a use for her, however. And the other is Dark Star, a P-133 in a black case that is missing a hard drive at this point and time. He'll be fixed later. But I don't want him getting annoying on the network and sending Vorfeed out to teach 'em a lesson again (If you understand this with the names, I'll give you a cookie.).
Blargh. @.@;; o.o;; Okay... this was completely pointless, but I figured since it got brought up, I'd mention it. n.n;; I like my comps.
You can't steal 'em from me.
I'd cry.
...really. I would. ;_; :p
Oh, 'bout that 'touching computers' curse? I've got it too... But it only applies for Macs. I got kicked out of the mac lab when I was going to school at the Art Institute of Dallas because I seriously crashed four comps in a row on accident. n.n;;;

Alright. My computers? I have a veritable farm (There are 2 laptops, 1 workstation, 5 desktops, and 1 server total but one desktop is about ready to be given away. I've built two of those desktops by the way (I built a third, but it was given away)), but on the other hand, they're mostly my parents/owned by the family business.
Mine?
There's Sakura (named for CHERRY BLOSSOMS, not CCS), my main comp:
Homebrew AMD Athlon XP 1600+ on EpOX EP-8KHA+ with 512MB of RAM, Radeon 7500, with a dead 60 gig drive, 30 gig program drive, and unused 10gig drive. Runs Mandrake 9.0. This is the devil machine. It works well most of the time. But when it doesn't it's really really bad.
And Mahoro (Mahoromatic), my server:
Dual PPro 200MHz HP Vectra XU 6/200 (512MB RAM) running a Linux From Scratch install (homebrew) with Apache server within my own network. It does have an FTP server exposed to the world however. It's a very reliable machine, but it does use a lot of its memory while running Linux. It typically hangs around 90% usage. It's a very handy little machine.
In the future, I plan to have a laptop named something else. I'll write it when I remember it. It was gonna be Belldandy, but I decided that'll wait for another threesome of computers in the future. Just like Delta Server, Omega Server, et al will be for another set of servers. And if I can convince the parents, I'll get a slow lil' 486 to replace our crappy non-customizable hardware router and perhaps serve as a print/file server for the network. No ideas how that'll be named yet.

If I saw Sakura, I'd think Naruto ^.-Pipian wrote:Alright. My computers? I have a veritable farm, but on the other hand, they're mostly my parents/owned by the family business.

I like doing sigs and avatars, just ask and I will make you one or both.
We aren't yelling at you, but its a rule on this board to stay on topic. If you post in every topic a one line response, followed by *hands so-and-so a plushie* it gets old. It would be different if you replied with more sentances relevant to the topic at hand than you did about plushies. Its not even about the plushies, its about the behavior. I don't want to argue with you, I'd rather be your friend. Please, just try to understand what we mean with that?

Ne, Terra. What Sudra and Asmaria said is right. The plushies aren't doing much more than disrupting the conversations at hand. You have to take in mind, that people don't like having the topics changed on them suddenly like that. Please be a bit courteous.
Running to another topic to complain about it isn't courteous to the other people on this board either.

Wah! No fair Pipian, I was wanting to name a computer after a .hack// server if I ever got enough money for a new one. ^_^;; Oh well, I'm sure I can think up an original name sooner or later. I've got all the time it takes to afford a new one.
But first I need to save money for a simple 3D card. T_T Whee.

Ah. I was gonna name my laptop chii. It will be amusing when I register (and ultimately do DNS for) pipian.net when I have a veritable computer farm of my own... Hehehe...
{sakura,mahoro,chii}.magi.pipian.net
{belldandy,urd,skuld}.yggdrasil.pipian.net
{delta,theta,lambda,sigma,omega}.theworld.pipian.net
I'm very original, can you tell? (Hey, if people can name servers lothlorien, I think I have enough leeway to use anime names)
