Yes I think it was a flashback as well. Because didn't Harold begin creation og Fragment shortly after Emma died. Because in that possible flashback he was at her grave. And if I remeber the greatest one liner in history he said "Its not over, I wont let it be over." And on top of that I'm pretty sure Harold died before //SIGN anyway.

I assume he's either dead or comatose ala Tsukasa during the timeperiod of the games and anime. I mean, if he was alive, why not just ask him about the Key of the Twilight and everything? Nah, I think he's unreachable. If he's dead, it's even possible that he forced all of himself into the game, leaving no link with his body and existing only within The World.

There were multiple "copies" of Tsukasa in Net Slum. Incomplete, obviously. But perhaps that's because the main part of him lay outside The World. With Harald completely within it, perhaps copying was possible. Or maybe he simply existed in all places at the same time, and just existed everywhere BUT when one was destroyed.

I figured it was a flashback in Lim, since it was black and white. If he's alive and well, why don't people just send him an email or contact him saying about Fragment and whatnot? I mean, they spend all this time getting Helba to let them talk to Harald's avatar, why not just contact him IRL? I'm sure it would make a more lucid conversation.

Is it posible that Herald acually made "The World" to talk with the dead? Like Tsukasa is able to talk to his dead mother(Macha). If Herald said "its not over, I wont let it be over" did he posably mean "I will be able to see her again". But mabey it didnt work out as planed, and he's now trapped in his new World (died wile playing it or something).
This is just a shot in the dark, so dont hate me. I'v only seen through episode 14, and none of LIMIALITY.

I'm pretty sure that the scene in the beginning if Liminality 1 is a flashback to an event that occurred prior to even .hack//SIGN. Harald's vow to Emma seems to be what spurred his creativity to finish 'Fragments' based off of what Emma had written.

Couple other things worth mentioning. On the in game boards in .hack, there are posts that mention the main programmer for The World going MIA, and a player dying during the beta. Anyone else care to bet this adds up to Harald having a very quiet funeral?FireDraconian wrote:That's what I figured. It didn't make much sense to me to show him saying that then, especially since he's only been mentioned in the past tense as if he was dead.
