Or would he have slowly faded away, unable to exist without a body for extended periods of time? He didn't look to me as if being disconnected was a small thing, it looked like he was dying. I think had her body died, then Tsukasa would've died in The World as well.

I agree. Clutching your chest and looking like you're feeling incredible pain is *usually* not an indication of total health. Even for a player character in an MMORPG.
