What if they actually made THE WORLD for the PC

It's really not gonna happen...
The last of all .hack software under development is .hack//Mobile, a "Keitai Game" for a type of Japanese cellphone. I'm not sure if it's acutally going to be multiplayer or not, but from what I've read this is the last software they're going to develop. Petitioning doesn't work for this sort of thing, especially from America. Our best hope is some really cool individuals dedicate time and effort to a Doujinsoft "The World" game. Japanese company policies are lax enough where even Japanese people doing this and making an actual MMORPG will get away with it. And, I have seen a stunning free MMORPG take shape just on a whim ("PlaneShift", ok, it doesn't have monsters yet, but it's still an astonishing leap for open source programming! ^^) It makes sense that a Doujinsoft group who IS looking to make a profit could make such a thing... Anywho, that's just my view on the angle people who want this should approach it... as CC2 has NEVER even made an online game...

キー・オブ・ザ・トワイライトってなに?
Actually, it does. Cyborg 009, the 2nd Rurouni Kenshin OAV set, and quite a few other projects were only done because of US support.Petitioning doesn't work for this sort of thing, especially from America.
... and funding.
See, a petition WORKS if you can guarantee money will be gained from the venture. There would need to be overwhelming support for something like that, which probably won't happen, but it's possible.
Now, if Bandai USA wanted to devote the money and time to developing an MMORPG, they would probably work in conjunction with CC2, or possibly another company to develop the online version.
HOWEVER, right now, such a shakey business venture just isn't in their forseeable future, so... Too bad ^^

for the people who started this conversation on the first page im assuming you people have never been out of the house as in going to Chicago.
The place im talking about is the bandai building. all those suits and stuff are there only for a different game though but i bet if you bugged them enough they might think about making something for .hack (since bandai did help make it after all).
only downside is it would cost a lot of money

i dont think ide much like "The World" because if they would actually make it then you would have no powers, it would so hard to get anywhere, and of course p.k.ing would be aloud, plus it would most likely be an mmorpg so it owuld cost like $50 a month
and im fine with A.O. for now

I am going to live forever or die tryying.

They'd have to make it like The World in the show. With events, quests, that sort of thing, to make it interesting.
And I've played multi-player online games where PK is selective, where it can only happen in one or two areas. They could do something like that.

I dunno, all the MMORPG's I've heard about have a monthly cost to play online. Something as potentially large as The World (a near infinite number of fields), would certainly be expensive to maintain.1337Sora wrote:It shouldnt cost anything. Just the cost for upgaides and stuff.

From what I heard, there are some similar games that will be just like "The World". Two of these games that I can name at the moment is Final Fantasy XI, and Lord of the Rings. Final Fantasy XI will be available January 2004, Lord of the Rings will be out in mid 2004. They are already doing testing with FFXI servers and fields. You might have gotten an e-mail about it asking if you would like to register to test out the game. I did and wasn't chosen.
But I guess i'll just wait for these games to come out. More information about these games are available at their official sites. I'm not sure if there will be a PK option. And yes, there is going to be a monthly fee for FFXI.
