It seems folks in SIGN mention she's connected with Balmung, and was apparently involved in (though didn't actually fight) The One Sin.

The main reason Subaru knows of Balmung and Orca is the same reason everyone else does.

They're -very- famous in The World.

However, as Subaru leads a group of people who seek to help out players in The World and act as a middle person between them and the administration, she has most likely encountered and spoke with either or both on multiple occaisions. She has a bit of fame herself from doing that alone.

Balmung and Orca are/were (hehe... ^^;;) still playing when vol 1 starts, so... there would be no reason for them to quit after AI Busters.

Balmung also makes a quick appearance late in SIGN.

Balmung seems to know her better than that. When he saved them, he comments on her "looking happy."

Also, I could of sworn one of the things BT and Sora tempt Ginkan with is the chance to be famous like the Legendary Players...and Subaru.

I really need to rewatch that scene.

In order to understand Ginkan's descisions, Andy, you need to understand him. He does things to impress Subaru because he knows she loves Crim. He tries to win her over, but fails, and chooses to do things for her instead, which is why he goes to Net-Slum. He's not going to impress, but because of her. Now, later on: BT and Sora approach him. BT has a lot in common with him, in a sense of love triangle. BT likes Crim, Crim likes Subaru. Ginkan likes Subaru, Subaru likes Crim. Sora and BT have obviously realized this, so any temptation or poised apple they give him, so long as they tack the word "Subaru" on it, will he accept.

This becomes highly obvious in //GIFT as Subaru spends more time keeping Ginkan at bay with her hoe because he flirts like a donkeys half-witted brother. XD

[EDIT: I'm only replying to sort of make sense on that part of the issue. ^_^]
