FFXI=The World?

Post by Kama »

I've seen lots of screenshots and trailers of this game, and it looks like a near copy of "The World"

Take out the Server cities [there are cities, not one per server] and the keywords, and the game would be awfully like a cross between Ragnarok and Everquest, making a close version of "The World"

1.Chocobos=Puchigusos
2. Characters=Customizable. I'm not sure on the classes and races.

Does anyone else think this?

The only problem I see with this game is the extra equipment [External 40GB HD]
AND, I've heard that 5GB worth of HD space is what it takes. [hopefully, the external HD takes care of that, because 5GB is nearly half my HD]

The Final Fantasy games came out WAAY before .hack and in my opinion, I think the Final Fantasy games have more action than the .hack games. But don't get me wrong, the .hack games are very addicting :)

I haven't played FF10 yet, though I really want to. FF8 was my favorite. Also,
:!: I heard a rumor of there being a real .hack MMORPG in the making, for PS2.
:?: Does anyone know anything about this?

wouldn't we need to be able to put our ps2s onto the internet?? Is that possible?

WHAT?? YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOUR PLAYSTATION2 CAN BE USED WITH THE INTERNET? :shock: :shock:

Why do you think there's a PS2 game called, "Everquest: Online Adventures" even some online war games for PS2. You don't need a computer, just an ISP, and some little black thingy that hooks up to the back of the PS2, to enable you to plug in a telephone wire.

It's possible, but I'd think they would wait until PS3 for something like that. I mean, the sheer number of areas that would have to be created, the number of possible players, etc etc. And they'd need some sort of plot, right? I mean, you can't have every player be Kite.

you aren't seriously inferring that FFXI took the idea of chocobos from .hack are you? chocobos have been around since the early nineties (isn't that when the first FF was?) If you're saying that the idea of transportation in online games was coined by hack then you're wrong... check out WoW, each race has their own creature to ride on for trans. I mean, how else would you cover such huge worlds??

and, if you didn't have customizable char.s in an online game... well, it'd probably suck... (that too has been around for a while...)

As I can see, some of us know of the lovely features that the PS2 has now.

I'd also like to point to Linux for PS2 that is also available now. We got the Linux Kit
that includes:

* Internal hard disc drive (for PlayStation 2) (HDD) with a 40 GB capacity
* Network Adaptor (Ethernet) (for PlayStation 2) 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface
* Computer Monitor Cable (for PlayStation 2) (with audio connectors)
* USB Keyboard and Mouse (for PlayStation 2)
* Linux (for PlayStation 2) version 1.0 software distribution on 2 DVD-ROM Discs
o DISC 1 contains the Runtime Environment and the PlayStation 2 System Manuals and is Sony Computer Entertainment Copyright material.
o DISC 2 contains the Software Packages to be installed. This is the main Linux distribution. Each software package has its own license.

and Cassie is good- even if I never use her -_- We *will* soon.
Cassie is the ps2's name btw- it got a name when it became a comp. {And yes, we have a Winnie the Pooh theme for naming our comps. My dad's is always Eeyore & I'm on Rabbie(Rabbit) now.}
Cassie was a little hard to set up at the time, but that was because we didn't have monitor compatible with Sync on Green -_- It cost us 200$, and is a good buy if you use it.

Do any of you plan on getting the psx? We do and look forward to it {so long till it's out....}

How many of you think they shouldn't charge 50 bucks for the .hack games? even with the OVA it seems like alot for something which they say only has 20 hours of gameplay.

Choco's are better, but can any of you say you rase fish in your game? :D
I beat DC2!{and yes, you rase fish if ya wanna in it(you do it to race them)} But I pressed skip on one of the cut scenes ;_; Ah well, just have to whip DE's butt in five min again so I can see it ^^ We didn't do it 100%{we almost always do} so we could go thru quick.

I still want the .hack game, and find myself criticizing the reviews I see on t.v. for not doing a good enough job of describing what .hack is.
Than again, I've only seen Tonnami's and XPlay's reviews and XPlay's Adem is not the biggest rpg fan and toonami reviews just suck for most part.

The last Chcobo race from FFX still haunts me.
I shall get the Sun Sigil someday @-@

FFXI is a LOT different than The World, let me assure you. The class system, character design, environments, and gameplay.

First of all, FFXI is DEFINITELY a party-oriented game, while The World allows for good solo leveling.

The class system is a bit more limited than The World in some ways, and more broad in others (such as beastmaster class, that one's cool)

Character designs in terms of clothing are pretty limited, IMO. You can change hair and skin, but for the most part, that's about it. The character designs in The World seem a lot more broad.

... I don't need to mention the Chocobos and Puchigusos. Pets/mounts are in almost every MMORPG.

The environments for FFXI are a bit more realistic, as well. The World has... frightening environments, to say the least, while FFXI has more picturesque and beautiful ones.

They're alike only in the idea that they're MMORPGs...

Not to mention, FFXI was in the plans way before .hack.

The Chocobo made its first appearence in Japan's 1988 Famicom title Final Fantasy II.

At the A-kon, i asked the guy from bandai that question. He said there weren't making any plans for it...

.....however, i dont really KNOW whether or not i can belive that...seeing as how companies hide what they're planning often...

.....but then again, who knows? we'll just have to wait and see.

This is what was stated about the game:

Someone asked on 'Oshiete, Piroshi-san!' about this exact thing.

All they got as an answer was 'Let's see about the game sales first.' or something.

There is nothing saying that they want to... but there's nothing saying that they won't. That's the only position that that game is in at the moment.

On FFXI arnt they offering certian people to try out the new game for online and Krono is right FF has been around for a long time even thought they may be simlar in some way like the chocobo and the Puchigusos, but but .hack and FF have many diference the main one is the battle system and the story line in FF mostly the same to all the others it is most of the time some sorceress trying to take over the world (Edea,Seymore) except for Sephiroth but along the same line.

Thanks. I'll take it into consideration ^.^; however...everyone told me that Final Fantasy VIII was boring, lame, etc., but I loved it. Moreso than FF7, which I thought, 7 was the greatest game I had ever played...until I bought my second PlayStation game :D

Maybe Square will do another team-up, but this time with Bandai and have another Ehrgeiz type game, "Final Fantasy meets .hack"
