Altenate Worlds?
Altenate Worlds?
I've noticed before in anime that characters tend to appear almost Caucasian - very light skinned, at least. In the World the darkest-toned person we meet is (correct me here if I'm wrong) Mimiru. But everyone is still identifiably "white." We never see anything that could be considered another race, unless you count the cat NPCs. I don't.
Apparently the World comes in different languages, including Swahili. In another thread we also discussed how the World runs off of regional servers. Does this mean that players in Africa would be able to choose from among different skins than players in Japan? That *would* make sense - I could see people getting very offended otherwise. But the theme of the World is Celtic/Medieval Europe. The majority was white back then, and changing that would look awkward. Perhaps other servers have other themes?
(NOTE: I realize that this topic has the potential to easily get offensive. Everybody, PLEASE be sure to check yourselves so the moderators won't have to. I don't want this thread locked!)

This topic was brought up a while back.
It really doesn't make sense, when a real MMORPG like Phantasy Star Online has black/african character skins. Certainly The World wants to have international appeal, so the lack of black characters is a huge mistake.
... unless there are no black people in the future, CC needs to make some additions to their game.

Simply put.. black people are rare in Japan, so they're pretty much nonexistant in the life of an average Nippon-jin.

I understand that. But in .hack we only see the *Japanese* version of the World. In the official timeline it says that the World comes in several different languages. Since Swahili isn't spoken widely in Japan, that leads me to believe that there there must be an African-based version that varies *widely* from the one we all know and love.

It is my beleif that all the people are there, just you cant hear their voices. In Phantasy Star Online a lot of the things you can say is translated into english. Ex: when your in the Japanese server someone can say "Hello" and it is translated. It may be the same way with "The World." Mimiru, Bear, Tsukasa, ect. may just stay in the Japanese populated servers. There might just be different skin color capeabilities, but we simply never see them.
