You guys may want to go easy on people...
Sorry but this Board is kind of a turn off to newbies. The Mods seem to be locking topics left and right and the Vet Members seem to attack newbies who ask "dumb questions" and call them morons or whatever. Oh by the way its not the person who asks dumb questions that is dumb but the people to stuck up to answer.
Almost every other thread has Vets or Mods attacking newbies and locking topics, HINT HINT maybe this is a reason why nobody really posts here that much....
Im not attacking anyone here or trying to start trouble, but Im just passing on some words of advice to the people here. If you want more people to join or come back, you have to at least appear friendly or nice.
p.s you dont have to bann me, this is my last post here anyways.
Peace and good luck.

Precisely. I spend more time telling some guy that his idea for a topic has been discussed. As a board grows, so does it's content, thus people end up posting repetated topics. The other annoying thing is when people ask questions regarding something in the announcments that Reki said, or a rule in the rules thread. I mena cm'on Reki works hard on finding that information, and then you ignore it? Then I have one quesiton for you, if you don't bother to read what people have put all there hard work into and you don't bother to click 3 or 4 buttons to find that what you were about to post has been discussed, then you honestly shouldn't be here. That's all, learn to live. There are other boards out there that are new without these topics, go there and bring it up and then stay with that board for a long time, and then you'll be the ones lecturing the newbies on how this has been discussed, so don't refer to us as 'bad people' because you'd do it too. ^_^
Its a problem with every forum... I completely agree with yasha and Rubedo. I try to be nice...but after answering the same things over and over...it gets kinda frustrating...as if my dial-up connection wasn't frustrating enough... Personally, I think your just being selfish...but thats just my opinion.

... I agree with most everything said before me (reading the Announcements and Net Slum should be a prerequisite to joining, the search button is our friend, etc), but Cray did have a point. This isn't an exclusive party; we shouldn't discourage newbies from posting just because. It's only natural for there to be a "core group" who has more to say, but when the rarely-heard ones speak up they shouldn't be immediately drowned out.

As much as everyone will think differently.. I actually try to be nice. I also just find it annoying when people constantly act like buttheads; whom are too lazy to scroll down to see if similar topics had exsisted, or act like buttheads saying things are wrong just "because" they are, without giving reason; oh & spelling. c.c;;;

There are announcements for a reason
One if your new and never been to a forum before, then you on your own should automatically take the inititive and read over the rules before getting involved. Moreover before joining, why join a forum if you disagree with the rules. If your looking for a place to find free pirated stuff, the rules clearly state this isn't the place, therefore if thats all you wanted why bother asking? And if you don't like, fine thats is your decision not ours. We don't tell you if you stay or leave, thats a decision that you should make on your own. Saying that your leaving, well you might as well go then. For all that don't know the obvisous, you should also notice the forum name .hack//INFO, therefore you should realize this is a place for people to know more about .hack Now if it said .hack//Fansubs well then if pirated material is what your looking for then clearly thats where you should be.

Here's the line of thought we moderators have on the subject.
We're not making an active effort to make this board newbie-friendly. We're also not making an active effort to try to shove them away.
We have established a community on these boards where people who are of like minds can discuss things regarding .hack. This is not a closed community, and nothing stops people from joining. However, whether they stay or not is up to them. If they do not want to follow the rules and guidelines established by our members, they do not have to, and they probably would find no benefit in staying. However, if they want to make the effort to read the rules, the announcements, and watch the board for a while and learn the ropes before posting, they are more than welcome here.
But there seems to be a misunderstanding over one point. We aren't looking to actively grow, as a message board community. That is, we're not trying to be THE BEST .HACK BOARD EVER. OMG. We really aren't. If we were, would we have this hideous theme right now? I think not.
I feel no need to have this community expand at a huge rate, since it would only make my job harder, and I doubt I'd be able to handle it. And no, I'm still not looking for new moderators, that's beside the point.
I am happy with the way this community has grown. I want to be able to take a few days off from this board and not come back to see it having exploded while I was taking a break. The fact that we have members who think along the same lines that I do makes it easy for me to trust them to take care of matters when I'm not around. This isn't to say that I want them playing moderator, but if they can give people an indication of how things work here, I certainly don't have to.
Your advice, Cray, was taken, considered, but we do not think that we should change. Our goal is not to grow into an enourmous community, our goal is to encourage thoughtful discussion on .hack, as well as provide people with new information as we can get it to them.

It is these specification however for which some of us in fact think this is the best .hack board, which is why we post here and not elsewhere.Sora wrote: But there seems to be a misunderstanding over one point. The way I see it is,this place is for discussion as so,but it is not also a place where you have to have someone,hold your hand and explain what to do.
The rules,annoucements,search feature,and notices are written out for you to see.If you ignore it,of course you will have trouble around here.
I see nothing wrong with getting the hang of the place after a while,watching what others do,taking notice of what to imply or what Not to do,that is just fine.It would be a safe way of learning "on your own".
It's just like in life really,sure there will be times when someone comes along and helps you,but how long will that last through out your life? One day,there will be No one to help you out,just have to do it on your own.

Exactly, Thats pretty much what I did, We all made plenty of mistakes when we first joined...most of them were the exact same mistakes that you new members make now. But instead of wining a making useless posts about it we apologized and moved on with our lives... To any Newbs reading this...just stick with it and follow the rules and you'll all do just fine here. If you can't do that... then you don't need to be here.And please...read the announcements.I see nothing wrong with getting the hang of the place after a while,watching what others do,taking notice of what to imply or what Not to do,that is just fine.It would be a safe way of learning "on your own".

Indeed. It's not like any of us had the red carpet rolled out for us, when we joined. I know that I've made mistakes on here before..... Heh, Rhyste made sure that I knew. But, that's life. And if you can't take some criticisn on the net, then you shouldn't really be on the net in the first place.

Here is what I think:
It wouldn't hurt for people to look in older topics, but it also wouldn't hurt someone else to be a bit helpful. Even if the same question has been asked again and again and again, that doesn't mean it has to bother the same person over and over again. There's bound to be someone else who knows the answer, right? Joining a forum does not require you to reply to everything that is posted, nor does it require asking a bunch of questions that are bound to have an older topic.
But it doesn't hurt be nice, right? I hope that all made sense... >.>;

Hey... I like it... am I the only one who likes yellow and purple together? XP That was quite off-topic..If we were, would we have this hideous theme right now? I think not.
This forum is for serious dicussion... if people would just realize that, we wouldn't have these problems... This board isn't for File-sharing, game help, chatting, rping, or anything else! It's for plot dicussion! That's it! (Well there is the fan-submission forum... but that'd beside the point)...
