The World Online could be Near

Post by Furik »

I was looking thru mmorpg.com today and found an interesting advertisment. It came up with text saying "MMORPGS in 3D" so I clicked and took me here.. does this look pretty promising? This could be the future of our beloved mmorpgs we all play. :D It could be fun and could spawn maybe "The World".

The ultimate decision would rest with Bandai and CC Corp. As of what's been said by them in interviews, there hasn't been a definite plan to make "The World" a real MMORPG, as they much liked how they were making it seem that way even when it really wasn't. It's what makes the .hack series so interesting. Making things seem like such, when in reality, it isn't.

I've yet to come across a pair of gaming goggles that didn't either,
1. Cause me to have a ceizure because of the constant dizzying and flahing lights.
2. Piss me off cause I blew over $100 on something never even worked in the first place...
But, I suppose I shouldn't bash them so quickly... I'll wait to hear a review that isn't on their website before I decide to do that. Strange that I've never heard of these before...I read tons on computer game and hardware mags...*wonders if its a scam*

uhh CC corp? I didn't think they were real.

I think out technology could make a decent pair of gogles.
This has come up in other topics but does anyine think that we'd use the PS2 controller thing?
I hope the world becomes a MMORPG tho.

CC2, AKA CyberConnect2, is the company that made the .hack games. Yes, CC corp is more or less a self-insert by CC2 into the .hack universe. They're weird like that.

The chances of there being a .hack MMORPG are extremely slim at this time, since the creators seem to have no intention of making a real MMORPG. This was said officially as well.

ah well do you think as long as we supply our own people (not "us" liteterally I mean anyone in general) supplied their own team of programmers that they could get licience from Bandai?

Probably not.

Since .hack is a merchandising scheme, the main point is to make as much money as possible and to lose as little as possible. Doing as you suggested would..

A) Make them pay more money to all the people who are working under license

B) Put them at risk financially.

Keep in mind, if they thought a real The World MMORPG could make them a lot of money, they would have done it. As it is, it doesn't seem likely that it would, so they aren't going to, at least, not any time soon.

If they want it to make big money.. they're probably working on graphics.. which pretty much takes forever to do... but I really don't beleive this is going to happen.. it might just over-do on the project .hack thing.

Yeah I know. I would expect more people the myself would buy it. Look at the sims online. The game is concidered a complete failure but they still rack in enough money to keep it going. Or possibly it could be like everquest and have thousands upon thousands of players.

Sims failed because Maxis is greedy and charged you to play Sims Online monthly, which dropped the amount of money that made, it's like R-rated movies, Matrix Reloaded would have made twice as much if kids could see it but it was rated R, so they didn't make as much as hoped. [They sitll made a ton though]

Back on topic. I would love to see the world exsist but it wouldn't just be VR goggles and a video game, ever thought about how you would type with a pair of goggles blockig your vision, and if they have any good, affordable voice typing programs for things like mircosoft.. There still are a lot of questions to be anwsered before anything really happens. ^_^

You could have a choice between the voice reconition or (like everquest) typing on a keyboard. The Voice thing could be improved upon in later versions.

Keyboard won't work if you have goggles blocking your vision. Did you even read my post? x.x;;

Voice recognition would be like TeamSpeak, GameVoice, etc. because they would have to either alter your voice for your character, play your normal voice, or translate into typing, which might not always work. As I said, a lot is unanwsered. ^_^

couldn't they have one of those things like AIM does that sends the voice to users? It wouldn't have to be a word thing people could just talk to each other I guess.
