What's it all about, then?

Post by Cobweb »

Okay, here's a big question for everybody: what do you think the series .hack//SIGN means? What's the message it's trying to convery? It can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people, so this should be interesting.
Personally, I feel it's about the nature of identity. Only you can define yourself ... not other people, not your computer, not what you were born with.

You're trying to make philosophy out of it.

//SIGN can go in many ways, as it had connections to the real world and how hard Tsukasa's life was [e.g. her father] then it had connections toward love and frienship, and discovering yourself, understanding. It pretty much covered every issue of your average teenager. ^_^

The message //SIGN gave to me personally, was to find my inner-self. Not the one I convey to everyone in the real world, the person hiding deep inside, like Tsukasa was trying to do. She had help along the way from close friends, [Subaru, Bear, Mimru, etc.] and the series also opened the fact that, it wasn't just a game, it wasn't just for fun, this could affect the real world in the near future, and what happened? It did!

//SIGN falls into a category of life altering animes for me. It really brings out a lot of stuff that I've always wondered about. This whole description is kind of just touching down on the subject for me, I'd have to organize my ideas and write you a book to really give my full opinion on where //SIGN stands for me. ^_^

.hack//SIGN is one of the few rare anime series that you can tell was spent some serious time on. The anime is, imo, best described as a more of a view on the relationship of Person vs. Self. That's the entire conflict afterall; Tsukasa vs. Tsukasa's Self. Tsukasa kept Tsukasa in the game, Tsukasa got Tsukasa out of the game. I can ramble on about the analysis of what .hack//SIGN is and/or means... but the basic jist of it is the mental war of Person vs. Self.
and god said unto cain, "wow you're pretty stupid."
