Help: In need of dothack info!

Post by Maniac_Mosli »

Dear dothackers,

I've just heard of the .hack videogame on the PS2 and decided to visit the website (www.dothack.com) to get more info, and lo and behold there's more to it than a game - There's a anime series and a book for crying out loud!

So can you guys tell me in what channel the series is currently airing? And when is the first DVD episode going to be released? And about the dothack book....is it a novel or a comic? Is it an interesting read in your opinion?

I can't wait to get my hands on .hack//infection part 1, which is coming out here in a few days. You see I'm huge RPG fan...and this game is getting a very positive responce, despite being short (I don't blame it for being so, since there's the next parts are released every three months, in a total of four I've heard).

Thanx again...I'm gonna get into some dothack craze!

*takes a deep breath*

.hack is a large scale multimedia series. There are various different mediums for it. (at this rate, I might just toss this into the Announcements for people to read when they get here. @.@;;)

.hack//AI Busters
This is technically the beginning of the series. It takes place during the 6 month beta testing period of The World. We don't know if this will be released in the US, however, it is mentioned in the video that was released with the game demo.

.hack//SIGN
Second series in the continuity. This is the story about how Tsukasa is unable to log out of The World, it takes place about a year before game 1. This was the first thing released for the .hack Project in Japan. The first game didn't come out until 13 episodes of the series had aired. This is currently running on Cartoon Network. It is about to be shifted over to the Adult Swim block as well, and they will be starting it over when it does. I don't know the current times for it, tho. However, the first DVD (Limited Edition ver - 15,000 units) will be released on March 4th. This box contains a LOT of stuff... and so far, the best deal I've found for it is on Amazon.com

.hack// Infection / Mutation / Outbreak / Quarantine
The main portion of the .hack Project. These are the official US titles of the four .hack games that are to be released for the PS2. Games 1-3 have been out in Japan with game 4 coming out on April 10. These are the story of Kite and his search to help his friend Orca. When he goes on this search, he learns that there's a lot more to what's going on that he could have ever imagined. He wields the strange 'Bracelet of Twilight' that allows him to datadrain, and officially, have the same power as what he's fighting against. But as the mysterious girl in white told him, 'it can be the power of salvation or destruction at the whim of the user.' Game 1 is in the US now, with the rest following in a 3 month sequence. Game 2's release date is May 7. Game 3's 8/6, and game 4's out on 11/5.

.hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu
This is the series that takes place about 4 years after Kite and Blackrose's adventure in The World. This series' title translates out to 'Legend of the Bracelet of Twilight', but fans tend to call it either 'UdeDen' or 'Dusk'. This was original a manga series, but now it's being adapted to anime. We shall see what will happen with the changes in it. n.n This story tells about twin siblings Shugo and Rena Kunisaki. They both apparently win a contest to take on the characters of Kite and Blackrose. However, due to an unexpected fight with a level 40 (48 in the anime) monster, Shugo saves his sister and is killed... and to save him, comes Aura- the mysterious girl in white. She gives him a bracelet and tells him to use the datadrain to destroy the monster. .....did Kite really fix things after his time in The World? Or is it just something completely new beginning to happen?

Its currently scheduled for Saturday night at midnight Eastern, from March 1st. And, it does indeed look like they're restarting from Ep1 (Role Play), so you haven't missed anything yet. n.n

That's what I'm thinking, Pipian. I just don't know where. I thought I'd put it in the announcements, tho. And before I do that, I'll edit your addition in it. Thank you, Brit-dude. :p

One other Important Q

Post by Maniac_Mosli »

There's these minor little details I forgot to ask you guys about .hack//Sign (I don't blame ya if you have the anime face-faults after this one)....
Are the episodes translated in English, or are they airing in Cartoon Network of Japan only? If it's japan-only, when can we expect it in the US or UK Cartoon Networks?
Is the upcoming DVD in English?
If .hack//sign are on the other Cartoon Networks (Uk, US) can ya give me the times of the episodes?

Ah.. there is no Cartoon Network in Japan >____>;; .hack//SIGN has already aired and ended in Japan, it's not being shown on TV. I believe .hack//Udeden has its old timeslot.

The upcoming DVD, like all anime DVDs released these days, is both in English and in Japanese.

.hack//SIGN has already premiered on American TV on Cartoon Network. You can check their website for times and scheduling.

Addendum to Sora's message:

.hack//SIGN and .hack//Legend of the Bracelet of Twilight were both shown on TV Tokyo, which is one of the major broadcasting stations in Japan... Both aired on Wednesday mornings from 1.00am to 1.30am.

1 am??? Is that our time, or theirs? If you mean their time, I'm surprised it's doing as well as it is...that seems like a really bad time slot to have.

Nope; it's 1am there time. -o-

Anime doesn't show as much on TV Tokyo as people thinks it does... TV Tokyo is a regulard broadcasting station, like Fox... IIRC, they show about 4hrs of anime a day. -o-
and god said unto cain, "wow you're pretty stupid."

Exactly. They have like an 11-2am timeslot for the more 'grown up' anime series...

Then an early evening, such as... agh... I know Slayers and Lost Universe showed in it. They played at 6.30pm on... thursdays, I think... Someth like that...

the late night anime series are actually a lot more successful than one would believe in Japan, tho. 1am is actually a very good timeslot. o.o

Just a tip, though the last post is ancient  : if you use TiVo, get a season pass! You might forget an episode, otherwise.
