Continuity

Post by Cobweb »

A question never addressed at all in .hack - are the different fields supposed to be areas in a continual world, or do they drift around separately? Could you walk from Dun Loreag to Mac Anu? If the second scenario is true, then could you find the edge of the field, where the ground suddenly rises up and turns into the sky? We only ever see people traveling via the Chaos Gates, but are they the only method of getting around? Just an odd thought.

... *looks at map server structure of .hack*

......... well. The way the map servers go, I'd have to say it's not continuous.

in the game if you cross a border you end up on the other side. it might be like that in sign and the other animes.

It's not a continuous World, heck it doesn't even really have much of a backstory...

I find the servers in the animes to be a lot more expanded than that of the games. i.e. Mac Anu in Dusk and Dun Loireg of Sign. In DL of SIGN there were more places and areas compared to the PS2 games. The wooden planks went out further into the fog, wooden fences around and concrete steps. Also the grunty ranch had a barn..sorta And of course Mac Anu of Dusk; there they had alleys and hidden rooms. You could fall into the water, and it just looked bigger.

In true Asteroids style, in .hack you go off the map one way and come back from the opposite direction. So basically, all the combat fields are actually spheres, like individual tiny worlds.
