Summoning

Post by Invisible Egg! »

It just occured to me that I've never used the summon feature in the .hack games. How many different summons are there? Why haven't I ever tried it? And can characters in the anime and manga do summoning as well? :?

Summoning is really just like any other magic spell, except a big thing appears, goes BOOM, then inflicts massive damage on the enemies.

So far, from what I've seen (which is as up to date as Mutation), there are monster things for each element (they look like those Gott statues, which match their corresponding element). There are also Kr variants (like Yarthkins & Yarthkins Kr) which are more powerful. There's also supposed to be a Goblin summon for each complete set of goblins you defeated in the little miniquest.

Manga.. I dunno, but in the anime, Tsukasa's summoned that Guardian several times. However, in the game, the summons are just big spells. You can't control them in anyway, nor can they do much other than one big attack.

Yea, it's just a really powerful magic spell, the only difference is that a big creature appears over the head of the person who cast the spell...

...then does a 90 degree turn and BOOM! 164 damage, or something like that. The dark summon won for me the second part of the Cubia battle in //outbreak. Trade with your Snakey Gruntie, i believe he has all of the summons.

Summoning in battles is a tactic I just started using in OUTBREAK when I picked it instead of a normal spell in Wiseman's menu. So much damage it did [ it happened to be an opposing element ] and it made me go

So I loaded him up with a staff that contained a summon for each element [ except Earth, as I could not find one ;-; ] and like a helicopter crashing in a failed Twilight Zone stunt, I cut through the opposition before me.

I've only played Mutation so the only summons I've obtained along with the rest of my party are
Wryneck Ch (Darkness)
Lanceor Ch (Earth? Or Lightning?)
Merrows (Water)
Yarthkins Ch (?)

One of those summons ( I think its Wryneck) holds a miniature version of Skeith's wand.

Tsukasa's wand has three Summons on it. I think they are thunder, dark and fire. I also think BT's wand had a fire summon on it.
Xander: Okay, this is really starting to grate my cheese. These woods aren't that big. Now, I know we've been going straight because I've been following the North Star.
Willow: Xander. That's not the North Star. It's an airplane.
