Apeiron?

In the Epitaph, Emma Wieland mentions:

"Helba, Queen of the Dark, has raised finally her army.
Apeiron, King of Light, beckons...
At the base of the rainbow they meet."

Now, in Infection, when you warp back to Dun Loireag, there is a cut scene with Mistral begging for the rare item "Book of Iron." The person she is dealing with is named Apeiron(A golden heavy axeman), and warns Kite of "A Notorious Hacker named Helba."

Does this Apeiron turn up later in the series, or is this his only appearance?

Hmm ... *interesting.* I'll be greatly disappointed if there's not a new .hack something in the next year or so, and they just allow the plot to whither and die. I must have closure! (Dies from lack of exposure)
By the way - Helba = "dark queen"? What would her army be, her hacker friends?

Well she has Kiro no Bito as her assistant, so I'd assume she has a group of hackers who work for her, or she could be the avatar of several different hackers...

O_O That idea has latched into my brain and will soon force me into writing bad fanfiction. I *love* it! But does all of this mean that everything in the series, games, etc. is all really just a personal war between "Helba" and Morganna? Odd thought.

Who then is "Alba" (I think thats his/her name). It says "Alba's lake doth boil" or something along the lines of Alba's lake boiling...

I think that refers to the ancient city of Alba Longa, and Albano Lake. (just my theory)

I believe it's refering to the Shrine area at Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground, it was stated that that area was originally in the center of a lake, which dried up...

A little history on that area...

It was originally one of the main Root Towns in Fragment, the Beta version of The World, users there reported strange happenings, centered around the large shrine in the center of the area. There was an upside down man who would appear in the shrine and speak to users, but he was eventually deleted by the Sys Admins. The Root Town was located in the center of a large lake (possibly with the other buildings located on platforms sprouting out from the main island), as we saw in //SIGN the Chaos Gate was located in front of the Shrine...

Anyway when Fragment became The World the area was removed as a Root Town, but still remained as a field on the Delta server. Suddenly for some strange reason the lake around the shrine dried up, and was replaced with an eerie mist.

Some events that have taken place here...

Tsukasa shows Bear and Mimiru his Guardian here, and it is used as a meeting point for the //SIGN characters numerous times.
B.T. opens up the Twilight Eye here
Ginkan, Mimiru, Bear, and B.T. protect Subaru and Tsukasa from a Guardian attack inside the Shrine
Maha sacrifices herself to save Tsukasa from a group of Guardians here
Tsuaksa, Mimiru, and Subaru are teleported to Morganna's Domain from here
Crim and Sora fight here
It is where BlackRose's brother Kazu fell into a coma
Kite gains the power of the Book of Twilight here
Helba and Balmung meet here
Numerous memories of the //SIGN characters congregate here

So, it's a pretty happening place
