The Great Tsukasa Mystery!
The Great Tsukasa Mystery!
Here's what it boils down to -
1) why is Tsukasa playing the World at all? He doesn't like social interactions and he doesn't care about levelling up. Is it the scenery? And before someone says anything ...
2) Yes, I know that s/he logs in to get away from her father. But that's not really an adequate reason - the old man can still show up and knock her around. The VR helmet wouldn't do much to protect her.
3) Anyway, how on earth did Tsukasa even get a connection? There's no way her father bought it for her and pays for all the bandwidth. Tsukasa couldn't possibly be paying for it herself (remember, she had to try and steal things). And if she had some relative nice enough to set everything up, why didn't they do something *actually* helpful? Like call Child Protection?
4) The best I can think of is that Tsukasa's father has his own account and Tsukasa just uses it late at night, or when he's at work. That would also explain why it took so long for anyone to find her when she fell into a coma.
Sorry this post isn't as literary as some of my others. I'm not feeling too verbose right now. (Which may be a good thing.)

She's in a coma-type thing irl, & she's playing it through her conciousness...or something.. O.o;;Cobweb wrote:Here's what it boils down to -

I think it's that she was taken away from her father, & is in the hospital to protect her. Plus, no damage can come from her if she's in a building full of Doctors & Nurses...2) Yes, I know that s/he logs in to get away from her father. That's about all I can say... O.o;;;
God dammit I have to use my brain. :/

Because on the internet, you really aren't yourself. I assume, however, that's it more of a thing that Tsukasa doesn't fit in IRL, and uses The World as an escape. However, as Mimiru points out, "whoever's a loner online, is an loner offline too" (or something like that). Whatever pre-reasons there were, Tsukasa initially played The World as an escape, but you can't truly escape, at all, as she figures out. Also, we don't know how much is between when Tsukasa started playing and when she was Data Drained, but we do know why she stays after she's Drained... :p2) Yes, I know that s/he logs in to get away from her father. Seeing as how like, the entire WORLD is on the internet, there's no reason why they don't have a connection: this sounds like the type of future where the internet comes standard with your house, and seeing as how CC Corp = Altimit, Altimit = The One OS, then it seems like The World is free for Altimit Users and comes installed w/Altimit, since you get The World email in your little Altimit Desktop, and the #1 Desktop Icon is The World. It'd explain why everyone plays it.3) Anyway, how on earth did Tsukasa even get a connection? There's no way her father bought it for her and pays for all the bandwidth. So is the World free, too? It may not cost money to buy, but surely CC Corp wants to make money off of the thing.Rhyste wrote:Seeing as how like, the entire WORLD is on the internet, there's no reason why they don't have a connection: this sounds like the type of future where the internet comes standard with your house, and seeing as how CC Corp = Altimit, Altimit = The One OS, then it seems like The World is free for Altimit Users and comes installed w/Altimit, since you get The World email in your little Altimit Desktop, and the #1 Desktop Icon is The World. Also, to clear up confusion: yeah, I'm talking about how Tsukasa *originally began* playing.

No, it costs money to play, one of the characters in the games complains about the monthly fee at one point.
Anyway, Tsukasa probably did play with her Dad's account, perhaps she created another character for it, or perhaps Tsukasa was her Dad's character, it just never tells us.

Tsukasa's dad is probably a PK'r who likes to abuse female PC's and get their member adresses. hmm...
O wait, that's Sora. d'oh!
Anyways I'm more with the theory that everyone in the future has internet, and tsuka's dad bought the world for her just so she would shut up, or something. Abusive fathers probably do stuff like that to make their kids happy, and then take those things away to destroy their little hapless soul. *sigh*

Yes, that would certainly be evil ... get Tsukasa addicted to the World as her one refuge, then snatch it away! O_O That's definitely my favorite theory so far. Well, "favorite" ... I'd prefer that Tsukasa's dad was the sort of kind person who just naturally lavishes his children with expensive presents.

That man should be pk'ed, but in REAL LIFE! bwahaha! die evil man (remembers scarface chainsaw scene) bwahahaha
I think my idea is prolly the closest one to the character's "truth" since most abusive parents mistrea7 their kids both mentally AND physically. Abuse is a sad story (cries for tsukasa)
