Kite = Thor
Kite = Thor
... this is Random, but, now that I think about it, if this were Norse Mythology, Kite would be like Thor, hands down; Thor is always pictured as a simple minded idiot who'd give you $10000 and the shirt off of his back if you asked him for it: And Kite. Kite's situation is like this: "Hey Kite, take this l337 powarr and save Teh World." "... MMK =D"
We'll say his Bracelet acts as a Mjolnir... or maybe it's Megingard, I have no idea.
....... and since Terashima Ryoko has golden hair, we'll say she can be Thor's wife, Sif.

and god said unto cain, "wow you're pretty stupid."
ok...
Well thor's hammer IS named Mjolnir. But do you really consider Kite so simple-minded? Maybe he's just a good natured guy.
Sometimes you can really see some depth in the guy, like in Outbreak when he goes to Lios' dungeon to get a virus core from a data bug without using data drain. He was pretty smart about it, knowing that he wasn't able to win against a real databug yet stil fighting, because he knew Lios wouldn't let him get hurt.
I find Balmung more simple-minded than kite (except when he's in the manga), doing his justice thing and being quite stubborn about it.

Hey, let's see who else we can match up ... The goddess of the underworld was Hel, and Helba is the "dark queen" in the Epitaph of the Twilight.
And you *know* Sora has to be Loki. The mischievous god, trapped until the final battle - that one's too easy.
Orca might be Balder, the god who was killed by Loki and who rises again after Ragnarok. If Loki = Sora and Sora = Skeith and Skeith DD'd Orca, then it *almost* makes sense!
My brain hurts now.

I think what Kite and Thor do are more like each other then the people they are. For one Thor always had a "ferocious appearance" about him, and well Kite is not really that scary. Thor also had a mistress in the giantess Jarnsaxa ("iron cutlass"), and all Kite dose is stare at Blackrose’s PC’s booty a few times…
If you compare their actions and what happens to them they are some what the same. Thor for one of course was very popular as the protector of both gods and humans (humans=players, gods=hackers/lios?) against the forces of evil. He even surpassed his father Odin in popularity because, contrary to Odin, he did not require human sacrifices. And of course Kite is/becomes popular for fighting to save the world and the coma victims. You can almost say that Kite surpassed Balmung (damn Balmung and his human sacrifices to hell!! ) in popularity during the events of the four games.
The Norse believed that during a thunderstorm, Thor rode through the heavens on his chariot pulled by the goats Tanngrisni and Tanngnost. Thunderstorm could double as a System Crash in .hack as Kite "rode" through kicking Phase butt. There are a TON of things you could compare with .Hack but Norse mythology really starts to link up with .hack in cool ways. Thanks Rhyste for starting this one up, its really cool!

Xander: Okay, this is really starting to grate my cheese. These woods aren't that big. Now, I know we've been going straight because I've been following the North Star.
Willow: Xander. That's not the North Star. It's an airplane.

Yeah; that's more of what I meant.I think what Kite and Thor do are more like each other then the people they are.
Man, Balmung. Ever since I tried to understand how different "-ieg's" there were in the Nibelungenlied, I've liked him very much less. >_o
