Hey, I'm new here!

Post by echelon »

Hmm, I wonder if this post is considered "worthless..." Nah, if that were the case then anything that I can contribute (Hah! Contribute!) would be utterly pointless anyway.

I'm glad nobody has taken this username, as I would hate to change the image strings in my sig/avatar, all five seconds it would take. Actually, I'm just sort of attached to this name. I

would have worked another way around it, but it wasn't taken anyhow. (Note: that was worthless.)

Ooh, what to say... I feel really akward when I decide to try and join a new forum. I wonder if you allow image signatures with external links. I hope so. If not, I guess that's okay too. I'll

just remove it.

What should I say about myself? I found this domain whilst in the process of "domain speculation" earlier this year. To my unfortunate suprise it was already taken. Good buy, though! I

must commend you on that! :P As a side note, I am really quite into domain speculation. I own the once official princess mononoke domain (princess-mononoke.com), if that is of any

interest.

About myself:

Computers:
= = = = = = = = = =
OOP PHP, PHP 5 development, PEAR.
Apache/Linux hosting projects.
Networking, LANs, 802.11, WPANs (bluetooth).
DNS, domain speculation and ownership, IPv6.

Personal:
= = = = = = = = = =
Writing stories, writing scripts.
Filmmaking, acting, directing.

I've been a net dezian for as long as I can remember, and I code php in my sleep. I remember the good ol' days of CGI-powered BBS forums. Actually, that was more of the stone age...

Oh well, I'm really quite going on too far now. I mean, I guess I actually have to start acting like a regular to get noticed here. Not like I'm trying to do that or anything. ;)

Anyway, I really love .hack. It is an absolutely amazing series. If I had the time to get away from my computer, I'd invest my money in a PS2 and the four games, but currently I'm

planning to buy a G5 for my film studio and that will cut me back significatly... Darn. I never have time for games anymore, not even if they're good...

Maybe I can find out what happens though? Now that I'm here, I think I'll go check it out.

Man, I got my introduction to 2,209 bytes!!

I'll stop now, as I'll asume I have been introduced.

You don't really introduce yourself.. you just.. appear..
This kind of post is worthless due to lack of .hack discussion content~ Nyao.

Oh, I just realized the "General, on-topic .hack discussion that doesn't fit in elsewhere." forum description. Now I feel rather stupid... :?

Sorry about that...

Welcome aboard!

Newcomers are supposed to introduce themselves on their first on-topic posts... Nobody ever does that, though... Anyways, I hope that you'll find this board suitable to your needs. If not, then I guess it's tough cookies for you. :P

BTW, your sig is pretty nifty. How do you do that? :O

P.S.: Some of the members here are kinda fed up with people not following the rules, so I suggest you read all of the rules and announcements (if you haven't already) for your own good health. O_o;

Well, I wrote an abstaction class for it. My avatar does it too, but your board uploads images and that won't work. My script "tricks" the server (yours, or any board) into thinking I am using a valid image, therefore I can post a server script (from my server) that sends out a valid jpeg encoded file, as well as headers.

Anyway, if you want to make something like that, check into the GD Library. It is absolutely fantastic! I can't wait until the UniSys patent expires worldwide, so I can use gif again.

(And as for the GDL script, if you want some help, you can contact me. The server I use is already customized, and we have "limitless" bandwidth just sitting unused, so if you'd like me to host a random image script, I can do that too. Besides, we don't pay for it.)

As for the rules, I am familiarizing myself with them now. You seem to be fairly lenient as opposed to many of the places I visit. One thinks I should be fine with them.

Do you guys have a place to post any non-.hack topics? I feel sort of "akward" here, since I haven't played the games, and that is much of the storyline itself... I'm going to have to get used to it, I suppose.

It did exsist.. but it was abused. Therefore. It was destroyed.
This place exsists for people to ask questions....(& harass eachother like monkeys. *throws bananas at johnnyholmes*) But before you do; I suggest you use the search option.

Do you permit the "bumping" of old threads? I know some places are really sensitive about that...

depends on your definition of "bumping." Old threads generally die off, & we get pissy when they get revived.
That bumping = BAD.
Old topics getting pushed off is ok; because they generally get locked anyways.

Well usually old topics should be left dead unless you have something incredibly important to say about it. But we get annoyed when month old topics are revived...

Also double posting is looked down upon...

And the #1 Rule... DON'T ASK FOR ACTUAL GAME HELP!

Welcome! Heh, it's good to see another tech on the forum. ^_^ Introduction threads are off-topic, though, so: locked.
