I've saw .hack//sign and a dude goes into my mind ( its a joke/cliche that isnt answered in the serie, but i think itsnt very important but i've curiosity )and the dude is:

Bear is a novelist, Ginkan and Crim quote from one of his books in the episode where they get ready to leave for Net Slum.
