//Quarantine reviewed!!!!

Post by Xeno »

Wow, I figured it was kinda early for this but OPM (Official US Playstation Magazine) has a review for .hack//Quarantine in the January '04 issue, which is on shelves now.

Gary Stienman, has reviewed all the .hack games for OPM, and has expressed his addiction to the game in every one. This one was no different, Stienman reported that although vol. 4 was more of the same (same ole dungeons, same ole monsters) he still couldn't help but love the game, In previous reviews, Stienman admitted to watching the series and reading the manga and said he thought he had had enough of .hack and was ready for it all to end until he played this game and watch Liminality 4. He goes on to quote what we already know, how its basically the same as all the other games, ugly, repetitive, and all that jazz, but how he still can't help but love it.

He gave .hack//QUARANTINE a 4 out 5 stars, the best rating the game has recieved in OPM so far.

Unlike the previous series.. which I played, which are rather too short and too easy.. well maybe for Skeith who killed me in my first try.. I think this game would go beyond depth and they rated this game that good, because of the story... I'll be getting it if see if it's really hard or so the rumours say anyways.

People talk about how it's the same game over and over, but strangly I feel satisfied with it, even if it is on four seperate disks. It would be just awesome if they made more games for the PS3 when it comes out. *drool*

It's the same thing over and over because, well, dammit, they're all the same game. They're not sequels, and they're not different games. It's like playing Kingdom Hearts, and all of a sudden in the middle of the game, you have to learn a whole new set of options and ways to play. Sheesh. I wish people would shut up about that.

But, I agree, I am satisfied with the games. I don't care how repetitive it is, I don't care how crappy the gameplay is. I enjoy playing the game.

yeah, the thing about .hack that keeps me driving is its plot. Now i know that that's the main reason why people hate it ("There is no plot!!!!11111oneoneone) but if you (us) know about the other 'parts' of project .hack, it makes more sence and is more exciting.

Cause most people are idiots...

They don't know that most of the parts are from the show, and some are in the Liminality version..

And also I have to agree though that the game is kinda short.

Well..each game is estimated to be About 15 hours PER volume.
Although, this is untrue for some...some finish it less than 15 hours or they beat the game going over the limit. With all the extra items, weapons, side quests, etc that take up more time.

I'm only on Outbreak, and my hours have already added up to around 120 hours. But, I've done all the sidequests and done hours (and I mean hours -.-) of leveing up.

I think that's a little more than 15 hours a volume :P

~.~ my game's up to around 240 hours. That's because i kept it on perpetually. From infection i had about 110 hours, so i didn't need to worry about the Ryu book. Then keeping my PS2 on just became a habit. A dangerous habit that eventually lead to it's DEATH! (yup, about during the middle of outbreak.) But i just used the warrentee. But yeah, the games don't take that much time, around a half of a day usually.

Actually, I have mine at 517 hours or something like that. I had nothing better to do as a result of my friends going out of town and got REALLY bored and just kept at it. On a (strange, maybe) sidenote, has anyone tried to do martial arts while playing? I have a strange knack (if that is spelled right) for doing several things at once. Guess it helps if I ever get bored going through a dungeon.

As for OPM, I have not read their magazine in a while but if they have given the game a 4/5 then they must have pretty good sense. At least that is my opinion.

Hey, I once did martial arts while playing too.

I'm in Taekwon-do, and one day I was so bored of killing monsters with one button, that I decided to practice the black belt patterns whilst kicking them monsters arses.

Kinda stupid thing to do in other games, as I tried it yesterday with MGS2, and poor Raiden ended up with a body full of bullet holes (serves him right for running around naked).

I finished in Outbreak, and it only took me 25 hours... due to training and such.... but of course, my time was 110 hours. This game must be long if they had put it in one disk!

Woah, I'm in Tae Kwon Do to. After I master it I plan on trying Jeet Kown Do. Sometimes I even take techniques that they use in games to give ideas of even stronger skills.
