What is aromatic grass used for in the game or is it just an item elk and mia like to collecet?

No, it can't be used. It's just an item that Elk & Mia like. Nothing more.

It's just a symbolic figure to link //SIGN and the games.

[spoiler]Mia is Maha, and the grass twig that Tsukasa gave Maha in //SIGN is symbolic to Aromatic Grass, which is why Mia is favorable of it. Although you're the one who thinks Mia isn't Maha and isn't an AI for no reason, so this in particular might be hard for you to grasp.

Ok, now that that's over with... it has no actual use in game, it's just a worthless item that Elk and Mia collect. It's like... the most worthless treasure in the game (it only sells for like 10GP), but Mia collects it because it has emotional meaning to her...

Shadowfox, ignore these rude people. I'll tell you how to use the Aromatic Grass.
You use it in a secret area called Delta: Stupid Illiterate Cretean.
This area is unlocked when you get your characters to a certain level. This level is different for each copy of the INFECTION disc.
The dungeon in this area is five levels. All the monsters are data bugged. The boss is a special monster called Readadamnfaq.
To defeat the boss, you must use Aromatic Grass on it.
If you do this, you will see a special scene involving Tsukasa and Subaru.
