Extracting Cutscenes

Post by Junko »

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to go about doing this? I have the Japanese games and I wanna extract the FMVs to play around with. I'm fairly certain you'd do it however you do it in the American version, but I just can't find any information at all on how to do this. I know the intro movie is easily accessible, you don't need to tell me, but everything else remains elusive. Please Assist!!! ^^;;

If I'm correct you go to Audio on the 'desktop', and once you've got that open you go to "Movie Mode", and play whichever ones you want. But it you got them in the game you're currently playing, you'll have to wait until you've finished it before you can actually watch them.
Hope I helped some! :roll: ^^

Thanks for responding, but that's not quite what I'm asking. I want to extract the .pss files from the game disc... ^^;

Oh, sorry. I don't even know where to begin there. I will try to look up some help sites... But if you haven't found anything, I doubt I'll have any luck. If I find anything good I will message you.

The easiest - sort of - way to do this would be to get a video capture card for your computer, and hook up your PS2's video cables to that. Pretty much all video capture cards come with software that will let you record the video input to AVI, etc. I don't know if PS2 video signals have copy protection, which would cause the software to refuse to record, but there are ways around that.

I dont know its been tooo long for me to recount that far, but sometime during early summer someone came to me and said that zophar.net was working on something or someone sent them a pss player but I never looked into it, might wanta swing by their irc chan or bbs to see if its true or not.

Thanks to everyone who responded,

Hmm, I still need to look into the Zophar thing though it seems nothing is on the site, and while recording it all remains an option, the most plesant option would be to just rip the .pss files. Lots of programs have been hacked together to do this for specific games, and I am confident that it has most likely already been done for .hack. Anywho, I'll continue my search for a way to do this so if anyone else has any information, please post it here, ne? ^^
