What are the games formatted like??

I love the "Legend Of The Twilight" manga and "Sign" series. I am probably gonna get some of the games. So first, do I need to start with the first game or what?? And how do the games play, like do you run around and attack- if so, is it just like one attack always or what????

the games play like a plot driven MMORPG

you have
a desktop
a login screen
a bbs
and the game the world

you play in this environment and as you progress emails or bbs or sometimes even news will move you faurther in the game

the game also comes with a DVD ep with each game that is what is happening in the real world during the game time

btw the game is awsome .hack//sign sets up the stage.

the manga comes after the game ends.

basically, you have only one attack: THE MIGHTY X BUTTON! However, you can also use skills and magic.

oh i forgot to mention start at game one and as you progress through all 4 parts of the same story your save data after you beat a game can be migrated over to the next game all the way through the siries. so you keep your items and money and other stuff ^_^ its realy cool.

Yeah, the games are pretty good but I would start with the first one, not that you have to, because I started with the second one and everything was messed up.
