I just too a trip to Japan, (And loved it, if I might add ^_^) and I went to this store called International Anime. It had any anime item you wanted! Well, any way, so I looked at the .hack//SIGN DVD's when I saw that they sell it for $10.00! Mabe America is just really really expensive with anime!
The average cost of a new DVD in Japan is about 6500 yen. That's /roughly/ $65. That's for a TV series DVD too. If you want an OVA or a movie, expect to pay about 7000 to 8500 yen. Japan's not a cheap place to live at all...
Budget Zen: When you see something so stupid that your mind goes blank rather than try to rationalize it.
Except for bootlegs! Just go into an alley, start looking at a tape, have someone scream "COPS!" and watch everyone run away without asking for the tape back ^.^ (<--happened to a good friend of mine) Anyway, another problem with buying DVD's there is the region coding. Unless it's region 0, you won't be able to watch it in your Region 1 player. Then again, even some Region 1 players don't support Region 0.
You're only young once, but you're NEVER too old to be immature.
Indeed, as ironic as it is, Asia isn't exactly the easiest place to find originals of their OWN stuff. Bootlegs compromise what, nearly 75% of the market?
*thinks* Wasn't Hong Kong cheaper when it came to manga? But it's one of the WORST places for DVDs, because almost nothing is legit?
*shrugs* I don't know, I'm just glad I haven't tried living Japan...grabbing DVDs would be hellish.
Erm...and I thought the Yen to Dollars conversion rate was hitting something like 150 yen for 1 dollar or something? Eh, I should really read the paper...
I'm the missing Twilight item, Eggplant of the Twilight.
