It's called file sharing. If it's not distributed along side a copy right, it's illegal. (but apparently not in Canada now) The rules go against this.

It is music, yes. It is music that has been released commercially in the U.S., and a portion of the purchase price goes to the artist. Distributing it on-line is both illegal and unethical.
