Meanings of the titles .hack, SIGN, and ZERO

You know, when you really think about it, the most mysterious part of some of the series of .hack are their names. Even ".hack" itself. You could say "because the center of the whole thing is the games, about the .hackers", but I think it makes more sense if you think of it in terms of how the game kinda hacked itself. From that everything else came forth. That's just my opinion. "SIGN" might mean a prelude to the games, and "ZERO", I have no idea, but it may well make sense if I got ahold of it and read it ^^;; Anywise, any thoughts on these or other titles?

I think SIGN = sign of something to come.

An omen? The first 'sign' that something is wrong with the game? (Tsukasa being the first one put into a coma by it). It's the story of the first coma victim who just happens to play a huge role in the entire series. A sign indeed.

Hmm.. I was thinking of ZERO..

I think it's the beta testing version of it all before anything that has happened in The World...

So... there's a timeline....

The names have a timeline.. but there just hidden..(Gotta love Internal Marketing...)

Anyways...

ZERO is the beginning of what's to come..
SIGN is the beginning of something bigger...
INFECTION is the Infection slowly being driven in The World
MUTATION is the growth of a virus
OUTBREAK is well the name suggests
QUARANTINE the name suggests.
DUSK is after what happened in the games.... (Like the sun going down.. probably the end of something beginning....)

there's my theory.

dothackers = .hack

I thought .hack//Zero took place after SIGN and during the .hack games,doesnt it?

Do they even call themselves the dothackers during any of this? I don't remember them doing it in SIGN or any of the games...

I think they get called the .hackers by other players. I'm pretty sure they didn't start that themselves.

In the games. There's a little topic about Kite and his party on the boards after you beat the last game, and somebody posts that they're called the .hackers.
