Woohoo! Andrew got another item early!

Post by thedudewhosadude »

Well well well! Guess what andrew got in the mail today? The L/E of .hack//Legend of The Twilight includes the dvd, a box (fits three dvds), the OST, and a promo card from .hack//ENEMY. There's no 'plushie' in it, so i'm guessing that the plushie was a typo. Time to review it!

DVD: Very nice looking in general! The load times are quick, although the menu music isn't my favorite. As for the episodes themselves....well, lets just say that '"RENA!" "ONII-CHAN!"' might be better than the english dub. Shugo's voice just doesn't seem to fit in my opinion. Everyone else is nicely done (i kept on thinking that Mirelle was Mistral! The voice is somewhat similar) However, there is one voice that is just going to murder me.....Komiyan.....his laugh...and his voice in general.....lemme go stop my ears from bleeding. Also, he asked for a pair of Rena's socks.....repeatedly. It though that was a typo in the manga! Oh yeah, they call Shugo 'Shuga' several times in the dub, as mentioned before in the manga. I think that we determined that it was just somewhat of a name-play. Two of the extras on the dvd help a lot, the notes on 'The Old Man Who Made The Cherry Blossoms Bloom' and something about a river. They explain more about the legends told about in some episodes. As the replacement for "Onii-chan-rena" the words "SHUGO! RENA!" or "OH SHUGO! RENA!" have been used. Not that much of an improvement, but i'll take it. A major fault of the DVD is the insert. All it is is the box image on front, the inside has Rena at the left and Shugo and the right, and the back has the VA info.

Box: A nice hard box! (I personally dislike 'soft' boxes, the one downfall of Abenobashi...) The back image shows Rena looking at Balmung in admiration and Reki doing his 'happily-confused' pose. The top shows Rena and Shugo in a battle pose wit the words 'Limited Edition Box' running under them. The spine says....well, ".hack//Legend of The Twilight Limited Edition Box" with Hotaru's gruntie sitting on top. The bottom shows Ouka waving to you in werewolf form, along with the dvd info.

OST: I've yet to listen to it in its entirity, but it looks nice! 29 tracks, and the booklet-insert has the lyrics to the songs that actually have lyrics to them.

.hack//ENEMY Card: I haven't really dived into the card game yet (until //GIFT comes around!) so i don't really know the value of this card. Looking at the .hack//ENEMY website, it would appear that this card is a retail incentive from October of last year. It is the Mu Guardian (goddamn i hated those data bugs in Mia's dungeon!) It's nice and shiny and......shiny!

So there you have it! Andrew's unprofessional review on the L/E DVD of .hack//Legend of The Twilight!

Those Mu Guardian cards probably aren't worth much. They were handing them out at a TGC store here. Those and holographic Ginkan cards.

Well, here's one thing to ask...

Is it worth buying? I STILL don't know if I should continue starving myself at lunch or not, considering I have the whole series downloaded (*holds up shield*) and if they're gonna air it on TV, I could just watch the dub from there...

Well seeing how I won't have the time to watch it, if they do show it on TV. How much was the LE Box, thedudewhosadude? And who's Ouka's VA?

The box was $32.98 at the time of pre-order, it rose to $40.98 after they recieved it (at least on the website i bought it from) Ouka's V/A is Paula Tiso. And i just noticed something. On both the back of the DVD and the insert, they translated Ouka to Ohka! Personally, I don't think it's worth buying, as the dub isn't outstanding. This is one of the few series that I didn't really enjoy spending money on. There were a few cute little changes (Rena says "Rawr!" at one point) but it's really not worth money. This is one of the few series that I've been reluctant about buying, seeing as how I've already seen it in 'rena-onii-chan' dubbing (jumps behind Duskino's shield) I don't honestly feel that this was a worthy buy, but I'm just trying to finish collecting the .hack series. Now others may disagree with me on this, and may like this series above all others. If that's the case, then by all means buy it! Remember, this is just from a personal opinion, which is probably way different from others (my genres have things like FLCL, Abenobashi, Boogiepop, .hack, Please Teacher (shut up), and s-cry-ed Very different genres mixed together!) I guess i might as well list the V/A's for the series.

Kite=Bryce Papenbrook
Rena=Allison Keith
Mirelle=Sandy Fox (I think she was Mistral in the games....)
Ohka/Ouka/Orca=Paula Tiso
Hotaru=Carrie Gordon
Sanjuro Sunarashi=Steve Blum
Balmung=Crispin Freeman
Reki=Liam Christopher O'Brien
Aura=Lia Sargent (yay! Same Aura!)
Komiyan The Third=Brian Silvia
Pretty Gruntie=Jason Lee (wow, i thought it was a noble gruntie!)
Tom=Liam O'Brien (I have no idea who this 'Tom' is...)
Fighting Bones=Perry Zombolas
Female Heavy Blade (the gruntie abandoner)=Carrie Gordon
Gruntie Shop Owner=Bob Papenbrook (Perhaps a brother of Bryce?)

EDIT: If you go to http://www.bandai-ent.com/products/prod ... cfm?id=333 you can watch a trailer for the series. It includes only the voices of Shugo, Rena, and Mirille though. I like the ending of it..."Prepare to Enter The World................Once More."

First off, for the millionth^2 time, I am a girl. >_>;

Second, I have sources. Very good sources :o

Well, I'm glad you did the review, dude. I don't think I'll be buying it myself. I'll wait for it to come on TV. Only reason why I would watch it, is because I'm really curious as to what the dub voices sound like.

If it comes out on T.V., it'll probably have the same time slot as .hack//Sign did in Cartoon Network.

Uh...

That would be quite impossible

Since you know, that time slot currently has Toonami

Not this discussion again -_-; Overall I wouldnt buy it unless you really want to complete a HUGE .hack collection, but if it ever comes out on TV watch it, or in some places rent it.

Unfortunately I didn't know that Toonami had that time slot. (In fact, I haven't seen any of the cartoons in Cartoon Network for 4 years now...

Cartoon Network is always saying that they are looking for new anime shows, right now they are putting Miguzi to take place. But they said that they know Miguzi wont work and that it is just a short kind of thing.
