BeeTrain also did the animation for Wild ARMs Twilight Venom, just as a note.

Bee train
Main animation team behind the .hack series. They did the animation for SIGN, Liminality, and UdeDen TV.

Previous works they've done- Noir and Wild ARMs TV.
Studio Mu
I can't find much information except that they've worked on both Outlaw Star and Bubblegum Crisis 2040... I think they're an outsourcing studio that works on inbetweening, seeing as they've done both on these two. Perhaps they did the same with Liminality.
MSC
It looks like MSC tends to work with Gainax on many particular productions. They've worked with them on Mahoromatic and FLCL. Probably the same as Studio Mu.
Studio GHIBLI
There's a fair number of people from them on this. o.o;; That honestly surprised me.
GAINAX
I'm saying that Gainax has involvement due to the character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's involvement in the .hack project.
Production I.G.
Main studio working on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Project. They seem to have a lot of involvement with CG animation and such.
Studio Mark
Studio Mark only seems to 'involve themselves' in other animation projects. These include Fatal Fury: the Movie, Miyukichan in Wonderland, and Char's Counterattack (Gundam movie).
XEBEC
I know this studio! They worked with a bunch of stuff that I like- they've had outsourcing involvement with the original Bubblegum Crisis and various other things.
TAKURANKE
Outsourcing 'supporting animation' studio. They do inbetweening work for Ghibli a lot. They also did some animation work with Square in Xenogears.

----

Actually... I'm dropping the others on this post, because I'm seeing them show up in a lot of other productions inbetweens and general animation setups.

My guess is that while Liminality's animation was run by BeeTrain, a -lot- of outsourcing had to be done in order to fullfill many things. This could be in betweening, sketching, scanning (being that it's now all CG, and if I remember how St Luminous was made...), photographing, filming, backgrounds... When you start putting all of that into perspective, you start to see how much work is done on it.

....honestly, these are how my guesses are...

BeeTrain is the head of the animation production. They are the lead of the entire ordeal.

Studio Mu, MSC, Studio Mark, HANG ZHOU FEL LONG ANIMATION PRODUCTION CO., LTD, MSJ MUSANSHINO PRODUCTION, TAKURANKE, STUDIO CRASH - I'm... guessing these are possibly inbetween companies... I wouldn't say -all- of them are, as some are probably animation support... However, I do know that the first three have shown up in inbetweening credits several times. The others could be studio usage or anything of that sort, being management and all... That's most likely what the Hang Zhou group is- usage of studio, by the name of it. ^___^;;;

However, other companies in this:

Studio Ghibli - They do animation support outside their own things. They're a big production team, so... I'm guessing, from the looks of things, either backgrounds or just plain support.

XEBEC -- They do finishing. They finalize the production to be released onto video, DVD, or whatnot... they do the final sound mixing/mastering in most cases, to my knowledge.

bLargh... I ran out of energy on this post. That's most of what I could figure on this... @.@;;; Anyway... Foodage calls. :p

There are no cels. This is a cel-less anime. It was all done through computer animation.

Though Miyazaki is involve in Studio Ghibli, I doubt he had anything to do with .hack at all.

Last I heard he was thinking of retiring.

And yes, Tsukasa is correct, there -are- no cels from .hack, and there never will be, unless the company feels like spending the time making some to sell.

In fact, no new anime has had cels since about the time of Inuyasha...

Probably not anything terribly big, but it's likely that someone who worked there helped out a little with something, or maybe they made use of some of the studio equipment, etc etc.
