FLCL, & Eva are my favourites! Kare Kano (Kareshi Kanojo no jijoshi?, His & Her Circumstances) is also very good. :D

FLCL was very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot (hint: name) ^^
I liked Evangelion too but I think it's pretty much overrated.
As for Karekano, it needs more attention! It is really such a sweet story.

Just as a note, Gainax was only involved for character work in .hack as Yoshiyuki Sadamoto was the character designer.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you, . H A C K // S O R A, That's how I watched Eva, and I think Eva is much over rated. Actually, the only part of Eva I'd recomend anyone watch is the first two or three epidoes. This is, of course, only my opinion, and plenty of people disagree, so... ::shrugs::

While I've only seen a little of His & Her Circumstances, I love that anime...I want to hunt down the manga, if I can find it translated. 8)

Why do people bash on Evangelion? *cries*

Sure, Hideaki Anno was having a mental breakdown while he was making it. And yes, their budget ran out before they finished. But Evangelion is still one of the greatest anime series ever. For people who don't like the ending, I'm sorry. It's metaphoric. It's depressing. But it's great.

Actually, I think you need to have a greater understanding of the metaphysical subjects referenced in Eva to really appreciate it. I studied Kaballah/Qabala/etc because of Eva. Systema Sephiroticum, Dead Sea Scrolls, and a lot of other stuff. Some people think that these elements were "thrown in" just because, but there is a deeper meaning.

The most important thing to learn about Evangelion: IT IS NOT A SHOW ABOUT GIANT ROBOTS. IT IS ABOUT MANKIND USING SCIENCE TO THWART GOD'S WILL, AND EVOLVE INTO A HIGHER FORM OF BEING.

Thank you.

P.S. - Watching all 26 episodes and the movies in one sitting is a profound experience, but I don't recommend it unless you have a firm grip on reality.

P.P.S - I've yet to watch Nadia, but i've heard that Disney's Atlantis is nothing short of a rip-off of it, despite the fact that they're both based on Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

I liked Eva, but it's not going to be one of my favorite anime series.

Personally, I feel that Rah-Xephon, which -is- one of my favorite series, is what Evangelion should have been. It involved more 'WTF is going on?!' moments than Evangelion, fewer religious debates, and far more likeable characters. That, and though the ending was getting up to EoE levels, they managed to get it to work out.

Eva was good, but it's not the best.

The first 3 eps of Eva really sucked... erm... the first 4 actually. It doesn't get great until the lovely red head comes in. *dreamy eyes* daisuki....Asuka.

Speaking of Gainax's other works, is Otaku no Video on DVD in the U.S. yet?
