Found a great picture the other day on an artsite that's completely unrelated. The artist says she's never even heard of .hack. Freaky coincidence, but it's the kind I like.

The link shows a bowler hat and a pair of eyes. I'd just slap it here, but Jen - the artist - asked me to link her directly.
Doesn't she look exactly like Subaru dressed up for Halloween? Or an AU picture - .hack//SIGN meets Clockwork Orange. Scary thought.

Oh yeah! Jen's stuff is great ~_~

And yes, it does look quite a bit like Subaru, though there are certain aspects of her character that are missing enough that I wouldn't really have noticed the similarity if you hadn't pointed it out to me ^^;

Sorry, Hiro ... don't think I can. Most web artists get pretty annoyed if you use their stuff without permission, and Jen would definitely be pissed if I did that when she specifically asked me not to. Is the link itself not working for you?
The main differences between "normal" Subaru and the picture are 1) the fact that she's dressed in a Gothic-ish style, and 2) she doesn't have the trademark Subaru thing on her forehead.
The bowler hat! It simply must be covering it! My universe and my illusion are secure.
Oh yeah ... there's also 3) the fact that she traded out her ax for a cane. Maybe she was feeling non-violent that day. I guess seeing a petit woman dressed in black Neo-Gothica and carrying a big pointy metal thing would be a little TOO scary.
I wonder what some of the other characters would like like if drawn in the same style? (Envisions Tsukasa dressed like Alex and shivers with pleasure.)

Heh, thats a cool gothic-ish Subaru... but it kinda doesnt look like her, just the wings.

She looks like a "mature grown up" Subaru to me. I didn't really recognize her.

[spoiler]you know, it wouldn't be Subaru, or her real self, since the Subaru on the game has a symbol on her forehead, and the REAL Subaru is in a wheel chair, thus rendering her unable to lift up her legs ^_^ yay! I'm thinking straight![/spoiler]
