heather, don't make the same topic in different subforums, that's going to get you in alot of trouble. if you really need to know, play the game and put Mia in your party, then position it so you can see her backside, not that hard

Thanks for the nettiquete tip; I only doubleposted because I didn't want to miss any cosplayers who might be only reading the Fan Works section. Didn't mean to spam.

Well..actually...I have never played .hack..and (although I may get lynched for saying it) I don't really enjoy gaming (video games tend to set off my migraines). However, I am always on the look out for genre characters who can be translated into costumes.

Mia is the "perfect" character for me--because s/he combines most of the fandoms I am active in--science fiction, anime and furry!

I shall name him squishy and he shall be mine, and he shall be my squishy.

exactly, although it will be difficult to dress as Mia because of all the fur, anyway, there are screenshots out there of the games, and concept art of Mia, I'm sure you'll find something, i saw a picture of Mia's face, front, sides and back, and weapons all shoved in one picture, so yea, that picture is easy to find

Well since nobody else seems to be helping...

Ta-daa~

If you need the rest of her leg-armor stuff, then I guess I can sketch that up later and post it, but for now this will have to do. Hope it helps.

That's a pretty fuzzy picture... although there aren't any details that weren't left out.

Mia Found

Post by heather »

Thanks to the folks who posted pics or links for me; that was what I needed!

I also kept after my web searching (I'd already seen the Google and Yahoo images). Since, in "real life" I'm a librarian and pretty good at research. I eventually found this site :

http://akai-tsuki.net/mia2.html

It has a very nice Mia gallery and gave me a lot of visual info. Looks like a good .hack site overall.

The furry aspects won't be much of a costume problem; I've made fursuits before. Mia's will probably be some mix of fur and other materials. I'm looking forward to this project. :)

Wow! This IS a great gallery! Thank you so very much!

(Still don't know what 'furry' means though.)

Well, off I go to work on my drawing of Mia with angel wings.

semi-OT answer: furry

Post by heather »

In Brief:

"furry" in this case refers to anthropomorphic characters. Mia is a mix of animal (rabbit & cat) and human/android physical attributes. S/he is therefor a "furry" character.

"furry" also refers to a subset of media fandom (like gamers, trekkies, or otaku); we are folks who are interested in one way or another in anthopomorphics.

Why don't they just use the term demi-human?

Wouldn't it mean the same thing?

I just feel so confused about all of this.
